Amazing Thai food. Very authentic. And we’re from Newtown, Sydney. Land of all Thai restaurants

We go to Thailand a lot, and since we’ve moved to London been sad that we couldn’t find great authentic Thai food. This is what we’ve been looking for! Amazing. Som Tam is perfect — the only element missing it isn’t being served up in a plastic container by the side of the road in Bangkok or Phuket. The Pad Kra prow with pork is extraordinarily yummy — and properly spicy. All round — great experience.

Excellent local Thai restaurant. I usually get takeaway as they prepare it in less than 10 minutes. The noodle dishes are fantastic, and they are willing to put tofu AND vegetables in a vegetarian noodles! If you’re walking past and they look full, there’s sure to be more seating upstairs.

The Little Thai is a cute, small restaurant with large artwork at the back and tables that is situated opposite the bar. A visit to the toilet reveals an upstairs seating area, again a very desirable setting for a romantic evening. The staff are brilliant in allowing you privacy as well as excellent service. Did not feel as if we were left waving down someone to order some food and wine. The menu is not overly packed with all the Thai dishes possible, but instead the recognized classics — this is reads good in terms of a restaurant’s capability in delivering good, consistent quality in dishes all around. Don’t worry though, I was going to put this to test! Firstly ordered the prawns Tom yum soup — prawns. Portions are not generous, so flavour was the name of the game here. Not impressed by the flavour, but I have been spoiled by the likes of Addie’s Thai in SW5. The Tom Yum lacked the balance in sweet and sour flavours. You can ask for different strengths of spiciness — go for the top strength. After all, it is a Tom Yum soup, and you wanna kick that cold/cough! Ordered the beef massaman with Thai fragrant rice for main. One of the best massaman’s I have had in London, in terms of the sauce… and I was left wanting more even though I was full — result! A little pet hate of mine is finding the potatoes slightly undercooked — for my liking! But my guest had no issue with them. It is a matter of preference I think! Not quite satisfied had the sticky toffee pudding, which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream — a standard dessert with a sickly sweet finish. Verdict? — Classic Thai dishes, the massaman was oh so delicious, but maybe opt for a different starter than the Tom Yum soup — Will be back to try some more of the menu! Oh yeah, good house white and red wines!

My first Thai experience and was wonderful. Everything was fine, from the kind people working inside to the food that I liked very much. I don’t have any comparison for the prices, but it seemed not expensive to me! You absolutely have to give it a try !

There’s a little story in South End Green that tells the tale of office workers over the years getting through their day with Thai food… looking forward to noodles and spice to kick up the routine of the daily grind. These office workers went religiously to a place that suddenly stopped serving them Thai… the office workers cried out and felt lost in a world of burgers giving them no real options. They began to lose hope that the staple of Thai food would never return until the Little Thai put up their sign and opened their doors. I went with a pad kee mau, fellow Unilocaler Vickie tried out the pad thai… it’s just what we’ve bee missing. For those of you who are familiar with the area, it’s the building that used to house the French restaurant(which I’ll actually miss, they were really nice) but it’s a lovely space, nice and bright and modern. We had a chance to chat with the new owner and it seems he’s got a bit of experience with restaurants in the past so we’re looking forward to having them as a permanent fixture in our little neighborhood. Staff were friendly and the food is excellent(and good value). Lunch from 12 – 3, they deliver during dinner hours… The Little Thai does not disappoint! I’m so happy the area has Thai again! Honestly, ask anyone who has to come to NW3 on a daily basis, they’ll moan about those dark Thai-less days as well.
