I been trying to find something positive about this place but I cant think of anything(been here twice). The worst of all is the poor bar service even from the manager. If you want to experience the rudest service in town, that might be the place. The food is of very low quality(even for a pub) and it took them over 45 minutes for them to bring it to us & that was only after we complained. There are plenty of other places for either drinks or food nearby so dont waste your time here.

Right next to the Monument itself and close to Pudding Lane where the Great Fire started, this is a very popular pub in the City of London. It’s busy on most weekday evenings and later in the week, drinkers spill out on to the pavement and getting a pint at the bar can sometimes be a problem. There is an area at the back which can be cordoned off to provide a party venue. The beer’s good with all the favourites available including IPA, Abbot and Old Speckled Hen.

The Monument promises to be a confusing talking point for people not from the area because if you’re asked whether you want to go to ‘The Monument’ you might think about the huge stone thing down the road as opposed to this little brew house. I say little, but the pub floor is actually immensely long, lined on one side with tasty little black leather sofas that are all completely covered in people, who all look like they’re alot more comfortable then me in my little stool. This is quite a modern den and there are pub quiz machines everywhere(I personally claim that I am the only person to have made a profit from pub quiz machines). The furniture varies in style, including some kitchen bench furniture with the usual pub stools(which I perched on). The TV screen showed Sky news and I was a bit put out — what is this philistine pub thinking of? As if anything other then Sport is what you should have on in a pub. There is a large variety of clientele — the typical businessmen but their were some truly boorish labourers sitting behind me who wouldn’t stop shrieking. probably drunk at 1.30pm the lower class scum… I’m definitely joking! This pub is pretty solid though, find yourself there sometime soon.
