The Rapscallion is just made for a sunny, weekend brunch with a friend. With a scattering of tables outside, positioned alongside a bustling and vibrant street, I feel as if you could sit for hours here, people watching with the sun on your face. I chose this place because, upon looking at the menu online, I was amazed by the prices. For London — though not central London, I realise — the prices here are so reasonable! Because of this though, my friend and I had no grand expectations about the food. We imagined it would be good, but weren’t expecting anything particularly special. Luckily, we were surprised. The food was lovely! I had a chocolate pastry, a fresh juice and a coffee, while my friend had the vegetarian cooked breakfast. Both meals were delicious! The food was tasty and fresh and very good value for money. The service was wonderful too. Even though it was a busy Saturday and customers were pouring in for brunch, there wasn’t a sense of being rushed or hurried in any way. The staff let us be, quite happily, and were respectful that, frankly, nobody wants to rush brunch in the sun! :) I’ll come back here again, for sure and recommend that you go too! Great brunch and great overall experience!

Great brunch location. The menu has a lot of variety at the weekend but my usual of eggs royale never lets me down. They offer a free cocktail on their Unilocal checkin offer and the espresso martinis are delicious.

This place is AMAZING! I had the french toast and I cannot say enough how good it was, perhaps the best French toast I’ve ever had. Crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside drizzled with a syrup perfectly balanced in mild sweetness, fried banana and 2 pieces of the most heavenly bacon cooked to perfection. It came with a side of guava for a daily dose of antioxidants. Coffee was solid as well. I want to go again now just thinking about how pleasing an experience it was. Yum!

Literally the best brunch I have ever had. I ordered their meaty breakfast with rooibos tea and orange juice. Their homemade hash brown and tomatoes were perfect. Sausages a bit too herby but that’s probably just my taste. Would recommend brunch here to everyone. Perfect cure for a hangover, although we had to wait about an hour for a table despite us calling ahead.

I’ve been to the Rapscallion a few times mostly for brunch and lunch. I have to say that the best food on the menu is for brunch(although I did spy what looked like a delicious mushroom risotto on someone else’s table the last time I was there for lunch). The eggs benedict are always a safe choice and I’ve also enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast. They do a mean ice tea that isn’t overly laden with sugar and the coffee is quite good and that’s saying a lot as I’m Australian and have fairly high standards when it comes to coffee! The service is usually attentive, but if you catch them at a busy time, it can be difficult to get their attention. The only thing that lets them down that I could say is that the servings can be a bit small. I had the burger the last time I went for lunch and while it was delicious, the bun was barely the size of my palm. EIther way Rapscallion will definitely remain on my regular brunch list!

We were there for brunch based on a recommendation from a friend. Being a bright sunny day, we wanted to sit outdoors but somehow the staff kept missing us as they seated other guests who arrived later. Our order was served in bits and was cold by the time all of it was served. The staff was friendly but in a bit of a disarray with nobody to attend to us for the first 15 minutes and then three people serving us. The food tasted good but the service was a bit too laid back…

As a vegetarian i find most restaurants just don’t cut it, Im often as uncomfortable with my partners choice as his meat always stares at me :) but this place is a true testimony to what’s possible, everything has been ethically sort, everything is fresh(no commercially produced meat or seafood) The staff were great and answered my usually critical questions, I felt relaxed and happy and was bowled over by the high quality, I shall highly recommend this place for all the right reasons !

Great little restaurant in Clapham, ideal for a bite of food before going to the cinema across the road. The menu has a good range of choices and changes regularly. Service is always very friendly and helpful. Also a great venue for a brunch

This is a great place for Saturday or Sunday brunch. They do a great cinnamon toast, vegetarian breakfast and bloody mary if you need a little pick me up at 11am. It’s also great for lunch, my favourite dish is lobster linguine, quite expensive but totally worth it. In the summer they have lots of tables outside and it feels a bit like you’re in Spain.

Just the place to eat if/when you’re off to the flicks at CPH! The prices will not break you and you will enjoy the food. Try the Blackened Soy Salmon. right tasty! Drinks are well priced and the coffee is superb. Rightly categorized, in my opinion.

Great local eatery that serves as good a dinner as it does a brunch. Good cocktails too.

Awesome place for lunch with good portions, cheap prices and nice staff… And Leffe on tap! Had the butternut, chive marscapone risotto(bomb!), mozzarella tomato avocado sandwich in yummy wheat seeded bread, and mushrooms with pesto rocket on toast. Fab lunch spot!

I like the feel of this place when you walk in, although I could have done without the lingering smell of disinfectant. Still, good to know that they clean up the place in the morning as it is a fairly popular bar at night. I went for brunch with some friends on a Monday morning(thank you tube strikes). The menu is fairly small but enough of the typical brunch items that you aren’t left wanting. I ordered the cinnamon french toast and a side of bubble and squeak. The toast was quite thin and overcooked to the point of charring. The cinnamon noted in the name was nonexistent but the maple syrup was delicious. I also enjoyed the caramelised banana that was served as a topping. The bubble and squeak was perhaps the best of all, warm and soft with a bit of creaminess to bring it together. I tried one of my friend’s eggs benedict and was very pleased with it although would have preferred more hollandaise sauce. Overall, the food was tasty but nothing memorable. The key drawbacks are the small size and limited seating, slow service(although the waitress was very friendly and polite), and fairly small portions(I ate both my breakfast and half of my friend’s and am not prone to massive quantities before lunch). I would also note that the kitchen cleanliness might be in doubt as one of my other friend’s ordered the meaty breakfast and got a free hair wrapped around the sausage. The waitress was very apologetic and brought her another breakfast but still colours the mood.

I tried this one a couple of weeks ago. Situated opposite the Clapham Picture House, there’s not much to look at really from the outside. But it always seems really busy ’til quite late so I thought I’d give it a go. The verdict for me was excellent food, great atmosphere, service was top-notch and the waiter looking after us was also very cute(added bonus) :) The place is split into bar/restaurant. The restaurant is really small, up to 20 max I’d say. The food was a 4 – 5 stars for me but funnily enough the décor did not match the food. Really old & damaged wooden tables, my chair was broken so they replaced it,…I guess it would have been ok if the food had been average. The food being so perfect, it was kind of a contrast. But heyho, dunno anything about«modern art», maybe this was on purpose…:)

The food is standard but tasty – it’s a great place for a post film dinner.(The Clapham picture house is just across the road). We shared a starter of calamari which was okay. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about either. Then we went on to have the pea-stuffed ravioli which was delicious. The portions are perfect sizes so you’ll feel full when you leave, but not overstuffed. Although the food is quite good, it’s a very casual atmosphere highlighted with some romantic lighting so you’ll expect fairly moderate prices. But when the bill comes it will total to more that you’d expect to pay. One more comment… It would be a great casual place in the summer, but in the winter the draft from the door is so cold that you have to keep your coats on to eat dinner. Okay, one more comment. The cocktails and virgin cocktails are really good.

Take one baking hot London day, add a mid-afternoon video production meeting and a couple of creative types with a thirst for Peroni and The Rapscallion proved to be just the right sort of venue. Selected by my colleague and I for its name and the vacant table out front, it proved a very pleasant place to chew over some project ideas, squint happily in to the sunshine and refresh our senses with the aforementioned lager. I’d happily have stayed for more drinks and potentially dinner — the menu looked great — but more work beckoned and I regretfully took my leave.

I had a post-holiday breakfast at the Rapscallion and I have to admit, it was delightful. When I entered the Rapscallion I was not impressed with the décor, the tables were a bit dingy and they looked out of place with the outside façade. I was warmly greeted and quickly shown a table. Despite the dingy tables, the restaurant has a friendly vibe. For my breakfast I ordered eggs Benedict with spinach. The eggs were delicious and I liked that it was not served on a traditional English muffin. The dish could have done with a little more hollandaise. To go with my meal I enjoyed an Americano to wash it all down. During the entire meal the service was continuously warm and attentive. It was an outstanding breakfast.

Where does one go to get the best cocktails in SW4? The Rapscallion, surely! From the extensive knowledge of the bar staff, to the quality and presentation of the drinks, to the alcohol content and mint hit of the mojito and the intimate funky feel of the place, I just can’t imagine a better place to drink. But there’s more. More? I hear you ask as you turn back, momentarily lost in curious wonderment. Isn’t that enough? For most places, yes, but the rapscallion comes biting back with it’s top draw Eurasian menu and excellent service. From chicken wantons and blackened cod to ribeye steak the feel of this food it truly modern cooking, and is simply delicious. If you can get a table, come for dinner and have some cocktails as well. Word of warning, though, don’t let them fob you off with their sister restaurant over the road. It’s nowhere near as nice.
