Very baby friendly and nice food. Like others said here, service is a bit inconsistent. Once they gave my order to someone else then I had to wait twice the time. But overall is a nice café and I love the baby classes they have in the back room.
The Russet can be very hit and miss. On the plus side it is a dog-​friendly, child friendly hipster-​esque venue. On the down side the staff can be flakey.
They are either amazing or you will experience the worst service ever. I have had both. Interestingly the busier the Russet gets the better the service gets. When the place is mostly empty you are almost abandoned by the staff, the food is cold or wrong and they will insist on the service charge. When they are busy it is almost the complete opposite.
There is an early 00’s sense to it with the music but otherwise it’s just a chilled out place to go on a walk from or to the Downs.
