The front of the shop is all dressed up to attract the east end hipster crowd but the interior is straight out of a Yorkshire based TV drama involving fast chat, shaky camera and stilted fast edits. I ordered the bacon buttie and the fam went with the egg scramble on sourdough — a working man’s breakfast. Colin, the owner, is very hospitable and an obvious foodie which gives you confidence that here is a man who knows that a bacon buttie needs to be just that, thick bacon on buttered white toast. Drop a bunch of HP sauce and this dad was taken back to barely new color TV, scabby knees, no internet and them good old days. Definitely stop by here for a not try hard breakfast joint

Nothing too impressive, a bit dusty, and really quite pricey. I was lured in by the beautiful window displays and was surprised by the lack of unique products, old items, and high prices. Even the sale table was marked high! Oh well.

I love that word! Scullery. «Darling, fetch me some flour from the scullery!» Brilliant. This is yet another kitsch little shop in Muswell Hill, but I kind of like it. They have everything you might need for your own scullery(ok, kitchen) including cooking and baking utensils, fancy crockery, chintzy little tins, cutesy aprons, patterned teacups and saucers, mugs with amusing captions. You get the jist. It’s a little overpriced but if you’re a Muswell Hill daaaaaahhhhliiiing then you can probably afford it. And it’s a nice place to pick up a gift for that aspiring chef or baker in your life. I also have to give them an extra star for the fact that they managed to provide me with a white box the absolute perfect size for the giant cupcake I made for my friend’s bubba’s 1st birthday(and complimented me on my baking skills — flattery gets you everywhere). It was a last minute panic on a Saturday morning and I was en-route to the party so The Scullery really did come to the rescue! Right, I’m off to my own scullery to make a cup of tea…
