It’s a Wetherspoons. You know what you are going to get OK. Cheap, sometimes cheerful. Very local. This one seems to always have a local crowd from lunchtime and certainly till late. Staff are always friendly. Edging on rough though that may be harsh to describe what it feels like to be in there, it’s a decent cheap stop off of on way home or a Quick cheap pint.

very good food and beer for cheap £. especially the traditional breakfast and fish and chips on fish friday made an impression on me. but it’s a pub afterall and the people who go there are not always the young types.

Really cheap Wetherspoons despite it’s prime location! That doesn’t mean quality is missed out on, the food and drinks are top-notch, and the staff are the friendliet you could find(special props to Steve: that legend!). Don’t be fooled by that Britpop hair: James is a formidable manager! This place is one of the only things I miss about living in North London… have yet to find somewhere in my new surroundings that match it(and doubt I will. One of a kind is the Toll Gate!)

Pretty gross pub, lots of ageing alcoholics of every race and creed. It feels a bit like you’ve stepped into a bad dream. Staff are friendly enough. It’s just a shame about the clientele. It is the roughest and most run down wetherspoons I have ever been into. — I have been to quite a few.

Consistently good real ale, pretty good staff currently and a decent mixed clientele. There’s nothing swanky about this place and it’s not Crouch End but it does the job!

Woodgreen seems to be particularly bad when it comes to bars, as I’ve rarely been in one that I’ve actually liked. But this pub is one of the worst I’ve been in. The décor is like something my great grandmother might have had, and it’s full of old sleazy men as far as I’m concerned. It just has a grotty feel to it. Having said that, the drinks and food is cheap as per any Wetherspoon’s, so I guess I shouldn’t complain too much.

The Tollgate was one of my haunts when I first moved to London, and I’ve got many fond memories of sitting chatting to friends there drinking cheap beer. I even asked out one of the barmaids once! Unfortunately she had a boyfriend. Eh well. Anyhow, the pub’s named after the tollgate that used to take money from road users which was apparently located near the site, back in the day when Green Lanes really were green. The tollgate wasn’t the only thing taking money though — the area was a favourite spot for notorious highwayman Dick Turpin to hold up coaches. It is a Wetherspoons — so, if you like Wetherspoons pubs then you’ll probably like this one! I quite enjoy the place — their food is great value, and they do a good selection of real ales, lagers, cider and wine. It’s in a funny old building, and has shelves full of old books lining one wall. I picked one out last time I was there and it dated from 1911! Judging by the amount of dust this sent flying, this doesn’t happen very often. There’s a little patio area out front, but it’s right on busy old Turnpike Lane so isn’t particularly scenic or quiet.
