The Woolpack

Once upon a time, this pub sold really rather fantastic food, and it used to be a regular Sunday lunch venue. I remember something with black pudding, poached eggs, on a muffin, with some bacon and some green stuff. Delicious, it was, washed down with the guest ale. It was almost impossible to get in, but the beer garden is quite nice too, complete with a small fountain for the dog. If I had a dog. Which I don’t.
This pub still has a regular guest beer; and it’s quite nice. But the lovely food has disappeared — and, with it, the customers. They still do food, of sorts, but it’s nowhere as experimental and fun as it once was.
Theres’s a rather nice Italian delicatessen opposite, which sells hot food. I’d recommend it.
But if you want a quiet place to have a decent pint, I’d recommend this pub. It’s nice. But it used to be better.
