Have been to Tian Fu quite a few times as my flatmate loves authentic Chinese. It is great! We have had a mix of dishes that you eat family style or another time had the hotpot. The hot pot is the way to go. For £20ish per person you get basically all you can eat, of a massive list of items and they will happily fill your tray if you run low. You can get regular broth, spicy broth or split down the hot pot. If you have never had a hot pot you get a tray of meats and vegetables that you put in the hot pot and boil it in the broth. Tian Fu also has a sauce bar where you can go and construct the perfect dipping sauce for your food. I am certain that I will be back.

This as yet has been the best place for buffet hotpot that I have ever encountered purely due to the generosity of its portions, the variety of options and the tasty Szechuan-style hotpot sauce and the hotpot soup. For the hotpot sauce you all the ingredients are available for you to mix at your own preferred quantities; I recommend the following: a touch of garlic, a sprinkle of spring onion and coriander, two spoonfuls of sesame oil and plenty of peanut sauce. For the hotpot soup(i.e. what you stew your food in) I recommend that you try the half chilli and half non-chilli but fragrant soup as this gives you a choice to ignite your senses on both sides of the spectrum. However, a couple of warnings: the last time I had hotpot here(and I’ve had it 4 times already) I found the chilli to be over-explosive and it left my insides burning so be careful and sometimes the restaurants card machine doesn’t work so it is advisable to bring cash with you. P. S. The Szechuan dishes are also delicious and good value, just be warned that chilli is a common theme throughout.

Ordered vegetable Singapore noodles to take away. Opened the box once home to find meat in my noodles. Very poor in our food conscious day and age. The receipt clearly states vegetable, so not an error on ordering.

Bonus points for being authentic Chinese and while I’m a huge fan of dim sum and the such, does it make me an asshole if I want my Chinese food to be a little anglicised? Hmmm… This place looks more to be the real deal. Restaurant was full of other Chinese people which is a great sign but the waitress was waaaay too busy with her own peoples, speaking Chinese, to pay much attention to the table of 3 white looking girls(myself and 2 friends). Points taken off for service slower than molasses. No check up. Waitress forgot one of my dishes, probably because her English was limited. Bill came and I had to bring the monies to the front counter to finally get out of there. I wanted to order more food but the waitress never came by and when whatever food I did order came up, it took foreverrrrrrrr. She said steamed dished were to be 5 – 8 minutes, but trust me, they came out later than that. I had high hopes based on all the Unilocal reviews but yeah, not coming back to this place. Food was OK but shitty service and not to mention gross bathrooms aren’t appealing. I was still hungry when I left, tempted to get more food at the Westfield. And that is not a good sign.

I came here for a work lunch to celebrate Chinese New Year and it was really good! This place services authentic Chinese food. We ordered dan dan noodles that were really nice. The pork belly was delicious and melted in my mouth. The service was also very good, and the good cane out quick which made it easy for us to get back to work on time. There are plenty of items on the menu and I don’t think you can go too wrong as they all sounded nice!

This is the first time eating Chinese food outside of Chinatown, and I was impressed. This is actually a Sichuan restaurant so I was a bit worried that their dishes would have been too hot for me. But actually the levels were manageable and all the dishes we ordered were pretty authentic. We got the chicken with bamboo appetizer, main dishes of braised pork, stir-fry prawns, this amazing bean dish and their soup-based noodles. Every single one was mouth-watering. Even when I was full I had to eat more, it was that good. They serve the rice in a big bowl(we were of four people) so it was an invitation to be gluttonous. The service completed the experience, they were very friendly and funny too. Definitely will be back.

We been going to this restaurant for a few years now as my wife like spicy food. The food not amazing but not bad. But the last few times our meals wasn’t enjoyable as we had to put up with this cold rude old waiter there. This time he carelessly push him self though the tables and knowing my baby was standing near the table he knocked her head right in the stone table. No apologies he said do mind your children. my baby was crying in had a few tears. shock by the behavior of the staff we complain to the owner which she and the other waitress are very nice and friendly apologise on he’s behalf and said please for give him he’s old and still working as a waiter have pitty. we still never got a sorry from the old guy, instead he was smiling though out and when we left he didn’t say sorry, thank you or good bye, just said be carefull mind your children twice. Rude waiter don’t go well with any food especially if you are paying for it.

Being vegetarian, it is hard to go for all-you-can-eat hotpot without feeling like you’ve been ripped off. Many hotpot restaurants offer a pathetic vegetarian selection but Tian Fu Bu Yi does all kinds of tofu, mushrooms, leafy greens, etc. The soft drinks are also bottomless, which is a plus, because you tend to drink lots when you’re having hot and spicy broth. It is conveniently located just outside Westfield shopping centre and right behind the best pub in Shepherds Bush, the Defectors Weld.

Decent hot pot restaurant near the Westfield Mall. It’s not amazing, but not bad either. I believe the hot pot was all you can eat, and we kept ordering meat platters after meat platters. In my opinion, their beef was the best. The lamb and pork were ok. The girls kept putting vegetables in the hot pot which contaminated my meat soup. I recommend not putting any vegetables. Tofu is ok.

Went for a meal there last night and I was blown away by the food. It was excellent and reasonably priced. We had the braised pork knuckle(excellent but would have been even better if they served Chinese bread to soak up the gravy), kung po chicken(this is the real deal), fried fine beans(yum yum YUM!), and snails in wasabi sauce(wooo hooo!!!). Cannot wait to go back for more.

My wife and I went to this restaurant on a recommendation from friends. We had often walked past and it was consistently quite full of people so thought we would give it a try. My wife got the the restaurant at 7pm, it was empty at the time however the staff told her she needed to book a table, so she booked for 7.30 and went next door to the defectors weld for a drink. We went back at 730, the place was still empty(lucky we had booked 30 mins before!). The server gave us a rather cold reception, seated us, gave us menus and walked away. After she had finished having a chat to a group of staff at the counter she came back and asked for our order(would have been nice to have had a drink by now). We requested a couple of chicken dishes from the front page and was quickly told«you do know those are cold dishes» — So we changed our order, which seemed a slight inconvenience to her. So needless to say my opinion of the service is that it is very poor. Food: Starters: I ordered spring rolls(original I know) — they were fine, nothing special. My wife ordered a vegetable dish which she asked what was the vegetable as it had a name we had not come across — we were told that it was a Chinese vegetable and she did not know what to compare it to. Unfortunately this dish never arrived, which we figured as they put the mains on the table — when we asked where it was she said, oh i didn’t think you wanted it. Lets be fair and put that down to a communication error. Mains: I ordered fried duck in a spicy sauce. The fried duck was not just fatty, as you expect duck to be, but very chewy and the sauce was far from anything I would say was spicy. They probably put a minimal amount a schezwan pepper through the dish. My boiled rice was a pasty clump of what could have been 3 day old congee, it was a sad state. How can a Chinese restaurant not even get boiled rice correct? The dish my wife ordered was the crowning glory of the evening — Stir fried pork. I fear this is no exaggeration the plate came out and it looked like a heap of shaved kebab meat from one of the near by take away stores, it was swimming in oil. My wife was too scared to try the dish, I thought it only fair to give it a go… I wish I hadn’t. We decided to skip dessert. The large table next to us were having the Hot Pot — it looked good and was clearly what this place is known for. But I guess when you leave it to your diners to cook and season their own food less can go wrong ! The bill came to £48, this included wine. The place was still only 20% full… so glad we booked ! We won’t be going back, we won’t be recommending this restaurant. If you feel like Hot Pot then go give it a try as it seems to be popular for that, but if we are to pay £20 each to cook our own food we at least expect some good friendly service !

So I was a little skeptical when my Zhong guo ren(Chinese) pals told me that we were going to Hot Pot out near the westfield mall. Was it going to be kitschy and«dumbed-down» for my non-Chinese palate? I am a minor expert in sichuan food(outside of China) and I can say that this place will not disappoint. Key points: — Go to eat family style and share. Because of this I prefer a group of about 5 people will like minds, aka eat pork, shellfish, spicy items, and don’t shy away form tripe and other innards. — Plan on staying there for about 2 hours. — Get the Shui Zhu Yu(fish in hot oil) as a compliment to the Hot Pot. THISISTHEBEST I HAVEEVERHAD. The fish was incredibly fresh and the liquid was so fragrant, with chillies, cloves, and other spices. — Get the Hot Pot and put the food in quickly. Don’t fill up on the first platter, because they will bring the good stuff later when they know you are a serious foodie. — Here you pay one price for all you can eat, so enjoy! — I recommend everything but the ham, and really loved the clump of small mushrooms(no idea the English name) and the turnip. Highlights: — Shui Zhu Yu — Good price overall for beer, drink, and a ton of food(£25 per person) Low-lights: — Wait staff forgot our drinks a number of times. tsk tsk — Knowing Chinese is a definite advantage, you need to be a little bossy to get the table you want and to get the food you want. — – How Hot Pot works: — — — There is a boiling liquid pot on your table, half spicy, and half mild. The wait staff brings you raw food(lamb strips, fish balls, mushrooms, greens, white fish, prawns, dried tofu, fresh tofu, tripe, ham, turnip, noodles, and more) and you put the food in the pot and take it out when it is cooked. You need to be able to tell when food is cooked(prawns turn pink, etc). In the mean time you go to a side table and get sauce to dip your cooked food in. Get the light tan sauce it is a sesame concoction and very very good with the spicy food.
