OK let’s get this straight: how come these guys only offer beer in cans? Come on, you can’t be serious, Trapeze! Now that we’re done with this, let’s get into the matter. This was a lovely place, I have to say. I went there with a friend on a Friday evening after work, for the weekly Silicon Drinkabout. If you are familiar with London Tech Scene, then you probably know it. I did stay there only for 1 hour, enough to enjoy an early evening drink. There’s something that looks like a dancefloor so I assume that things gets«hotter» later on the night. I should probably try it out. Cocktails also looked lovely, it might be the specialty of the house? No idea, all I know is that I wanted a pint. But they don’t offer pints. I mean, they didn’t when I went there, I don’t know if it changed. Lovely place though, will gladly go back. For a cocktail or wine with friends. Or another Silicon Drinkabout!

Fun place! Cocktails served in the cutest mugs ever, beautiful presentation all the way! Food platter definitely not healthy but fun for a night out. Staff very friendly, attentive. Didn’t see any of the circus acts(if there are any?!) but would return.

A friend of mine brought me here for some much overdue birthday drinks. There were actually four of us, so it was kind of birthday/I found an offer on Wowcher drinks. What an offer! We got a surprise special cocktail, which by the way was served in a champagne bucket(!) and a sharing platter for about £30. The cocktails alone normally cost £70. WIN So we turned up to this place and were unsuprised to see the circus theme prevalent inside. Acrobatic bars and ropes and rings(oh my) hung from the ceiling. A few booths with circus big tops colours were scattered around. A bit quirky and so very Old St/Shoreditch. We got there just in time for happy hour so sampled a few different cocktails for half price. Varying levels of success but all very worth the £9 price tag. Then came the big drink, we opted for a gin base(why not, when in Shoreditch after all) and received a bucket full of alcohol and various juices. It was affectionately topped with Skittles(mmm colourful) and a bit too much ice, but we drank it up with gusto. We also sampled the sharing platters, really worth having. £24 was overpriced, but it was delicious — king prawns(not shelled which I love), chips, chicken skewers, some lovely coleslaw were much than well received. We were totally starving after all those cocktails! I would definitely go back if that offer could be found again! I think my friend is considering the balcony for her party.

You have to cut a place some slack in their opening week. But what you can’t forgive is crap service. Ever. A smile and a good attitude are free, but worth their weight in gold. Our waitress at Trapeze had a hefty case of bad ‘tude syndrome. Two stars given for décor and a tasty drinks. Three stars lost for attitude, painfully slow service and for being pricey with nothing to show for it.
