TY Soho, the third Timberyard branch, is located in the middle of Soho, part coffee shop part co-working space and open longer than most other coffee places around. The coffee is great, they retail Drop Coffee from Stockholm and they sell delicious tarts, crodoughs and more — what’s not to like?! TY Soho is a large and laid-back coffee shop that doubles as kind of a co-working space. I have been to another Timberyard branch before about half a year ago with a similar concept, so I expected the new Soho shop to be as great as the other one I already knew. The place is light with industrial features, maybe a bit rough around the edges. However, I was a bit surprised to realise that the industrial chic actually works here and contributes to the relaxed, social and arty atmosphere with a few larger, communal tables. While I could not figure out exactly what songs they were playing, the music reminded me a bit of the piano jazz by Jacques Loussier, a great background sound. As I was drinking my coffee and started looking around, I noticed a range of London drawings on the wall. I do not know if they will change frequently or not, but I would be perfectly happy if those cityscapes would be here to stay. Perhaps I should look closer to see if you could probably even buy them. I have now been at TY Soho twice in recent weeks and became a fan instantly. The staff at the counter are really friendly and the service staff lovely. Not only the service is oustanding, the flat white is also very good, the orange juice natural and the food tastes delicious. Once I had a refreshing apricot tart and the other time an Oreo Crodough which was richer than expected, and moist and somehow intriguing. I just found out that they get their crodoughs from the Rinkoff Bakery. I always wanted to try those little treats but never got around to go to their shop — good to know that I can now simply go to Soho for a treat. One of the main advantages of TY Soho over other coffee shops in central London could be their opening times. I was pleased to find out they are open until 20:00 on Saturdays. If you ask me, TY Soho might well fill a gap in the area for people like me who enjoy spending productive time in a friendly environment with a decent coffee. I used to go regularly to another place nearby, but as it changed over time, I stopped going. Maybe TY Soho is the perfect replacement.
