I really appreciate it when people don’t rip me off! And the folks here at Vinay’s Shoe Care passed my Are-​You-​Ripping-​Me-​Off test with flying colours. Here’s my story:
I had bought a new leather belt and I needed additional holes punched into it. A few years back I was facing a similar scenario and the clerk at that store in the US actually charged me a couple Dollars per hole. I’ve been extremely wary of shoe repair stores ever since and so I actually asked how much they would charge for such a simple action (which literally takes like 10 seconds per hole).
Here’s their answer: «Oh, just put a donation in the charity box!» I loved that answer so much, that I immediately stripped of the belt and handed it over… in the end I donated a pound per hole.
