You will never have pizza like this anywhere else. Perfect for lunch from Shoreditch and perfect for dinner every night of the week. Keep in mind, that every Monday they have slice night where all slices are £2.50 Also try the midnight slice if you are out drinking late on a Friday or Saturday night.

When I’m Dalston, Voodoo Rays is always one of my stop-offs. Great vibe and the pizza is amazing, people are nice and the music always pump’n.

If you’re looking for something a bit different from Pizza Express then try Voodoo Ray’s, 2 minute walk from Dalston Kingsland overground station. As a vegetarian, I found there was a really good selection of slices available, including some unusual options with ‘green sauce’ instead of the traditional tomato sauce base. The slices are big, I managed with two. I like that you order by the slice, so you can mix it up a bit, and it’s not too much of a disaster if one of your slices isn’t as nice as you planned(as it turned out, both my slices were fine). The crust is crunchy and not doughy — tick. Interesting variety of green olives on the pizza — tick.(Also, just going to put it out there — the olives had this weird aftertaste. The only way I can describe it is ‘birthday cake’. Can’t explain any more than that. Sorry). Service was quick and efficient. No minimum card charge. Lots of beers available, including Pabst Blue Ribbon, which, for Blue Velvet/David Lynch/Dennis Hopper purposes, I always enjoy ordering. There were a few dessert options of the brownie/blondie variety, which didn’t take my fancy. Cocktails also available. The music was slightly louder than I would’ve liked, but I was still able to maintain a conversation, and I do realise this is Dalston. Also, one of the tracks that came up was ‘I Might Be Wrong’ by Radiohead, so mad props there for dipping into Amnesiac, the underrated treasure trove of an album from Radiohead’s 2000-01 glory years, where they were at their creative peak, knocking out Can-style jam sessions and then crafting them into the best music nuggets ever to grace the ears of this reviewer…

Do your mouth a favour and put a slice of VoodooRay’s into it immediately. Your life will suddenly and permanently change, and no sleazy Dominos will ever satiate your pizza pallet again. VoodooRays is a small space that packs a punch. All pizzas are on display, so you know exactly what you’re getting, and they sell by the gigantic slice(though I recommend getting two if you’re hungry like the wolf). If you’re vego, get the ‘schroom. If you’re not, get the ‘shroom. It’s mountains of mushroom and cheese for days; What’s not to love? The atmosphere is vibrant, and the location is great for a casual saunter down to any of the bars East London has to offer. Staff are super friendly; don’t be afraid to ask what their topping of choice is. With the vast display windows of options, the help is much needed. NB I don’t know if any of them are actually Ray.

Having been to New York a few times I’ve always wondered when there would be a by the slice pizzeria. I went to the one in Dalston very late into the night after leaving a club. These slices are huge, fresh and have a nice crispy crunch like the NYC ones usually do. And in true New York style I went for a regular slice. Plain and simple it was lovely. I like the addition of the ‘Full Moon slice’ with bacon dust and Japanese Mayo which is only available from midnight. I know they have just opened a Boxpark branch so hopefully I get to try that soon. Can’t help but think it might be a little too pricey for a slice though. *Note I went to the Boxpark one last night(Thurs 14th May) and it wasn’t open at 11.30 which is rubbish considering it’s supposed to be a NYC style pizza jpint. Even for a takeaway? But seems it’s because of Shoreditch licensing)

Voodoo Ray’s is a gem. I’d been hoping to find a place to get a decent solitary slice of pizza for ages, then stumbled upon this place on my way home one night. The portions are very generous and the slide of the slice is matched by the quality of it. They have a nice selection of craft beers too, which is always a bonus. This is extremely good ‘za and cheap to boot!

I had heard the hype about Voodoo Rays and for me… It definitely lived up to it! Huge slices of pizza you buy by the slice that pack a flavorful punch! The type of pizza you definitely burn your mouth on because you just want to eat it so bad! Accompany these delicious slices with a frozen margarita or craft beer and it makes for the perfect chilled out venue to go at the beginning, middle and end of a night out. The only slightly disappointing part of my voodoo Ray experience was the wait on our Mac & Cheese which was a little lack luster in comparison to the pizza. Overall though, Voodoo Rays is a place that I would definitely go back for seconds.

Got some takeaway pizza slices from here for my birthday, they were pretty tasty and generous in size. They have a vegan option and length of meat focused slices. Looks like a nice place to sit in too.

After a night out down the road at Dalston Superstore, we stumbled into Voodoo Rays. My sense of taste may have been at bit skewed in these early morning hours. While my slice of Hot Mix 5 satisfied my drunchies, looking back I’m sure that had a lot to do with the fact it was past 2AM. In my inebriated state, I thought to myself«Is pizza supposed to be this cold?» If you are fresh from the club and looking to rehydrate, definitely order the hot mix 5 pizza(with pepperoni, huge slices of jalapenos and red chilies) — it had me chugging water like there was no tomorrow.

Voodoo Rays is busy with hipsters and there is pretty much always a queue! I loved the menu– simple but enough to make everyone happy. I got the Buffalo Margherita, it was good but not the best pizza I’ve had in my life. And it was also a bit cold. I’ll save Voodoo Rays’ slices for these nights out in Dalston when you end up drunk and really hungry!

Went at 19:15 on a weekday. After waiting in line for 20 minutes, there were only 2 types of slices available out of their 10 or so menu options. They said it’d be another 20 minutes if we wanted our slices heated up. We decided to warm the slices at home in the oven instead. Mediocre flavours, bland bread. Definitely not worth the price.

One of my favourite pizzas in London. American style pizza, I ordered the Hawaiian one and was great. It’s not cheap, but it worth it. If you’re looking for a tasty, crispy, thin pizza, voodoo ray is the pizzeria to go.

London has lots of options for pizza — whole pizza. What about when you want a single, elaborate slice, New York-style? In steps Voodoo Ray’s. It’s conveniently located near the Rio cinema and the clubs of Dalston Kingsland and stays open late. The pizzas have creative names(I had the Giorgio Manucci with grilled zucchini) and are always exactly what you’re craving. As a single diner, it was easy for me to find a seat at the high bar.

Hip and busy pizza by the slice joint in Dalston. Pretty good selection of pizzas on offer that will be warmed up when you order. The size of the slice is good however each one will set you back about £4. Drinks are good although there wasn’t a wine option when I was there and the chilli oil on the table packs a bit of a punch. Overall it’s a decent option, especially at 3 in the morning when it always seems to be busy but there’s better food in the area

It’s like being in goddamn New York city, baby. Meeting my friend for a movie at the Rio, she messaged to ask me to pick up a frozen margarita here before the show started. ‘They serve them in a takeaway cup, if you ask’. Booze in a to-go cup? Damn, I’m sold! It was my first time here and I loved the laid back, hipster NYC vibe. Sure, it’s a little try-hard but I won’t complain. Voodoo’s was jam-packed with hipsters lining up to buy a slice and perch at the counter top to eat. It is so very un-London that I loved it. Loved the black and white brickwork where the menu is drawn on in sharpie, the counter full of giant pizza pies and the array of flavoured olive oils you can dress your pizza with. I went for sausage with stilton and it was so good that I’m thinking about it right now. You can buy by the slice, which is £2 on a Monday, or the whole pie. I’m not a huge fan of pre-made pizzas, so I think, in future, I’ll ask for whatever came out of the oven last because I like my pizza hot and fresh.

Americanisms have been jumping the Atlantic for decades now, so I guess it was only a matter if time before some smart Alec started serving pizza by the slice. As a typical Brit, my first thought was«but… where’s the rest if my pizza going?!». My concerns were at least dampened a bit by the sight of the slices — they’re huge! LIKEONAMERICANTV!!! One slice is a snack, two a light meal and three a decent meal comparison’s to a 10″ pizza(at a guess). So that’s the slice controversy out of the way, but is it any good? The base is very well done, quite thin, but rigid enough to support such a large slice. I’d be interested to see how they avoid a soggy base in the middle as is the case with Italian style pizza. The toppings are fairly standard(margarita, a few veg options, a few salami options, a few sausage options). I ordered a cabbage & bacon slice and a fennel sausage slice(well, actually I had ordered the aubergine veg slice, but my friend accidentally ate that thinking it was his courgette veg slice — who would confuse an aubergine for a courgette?!? Anyway, I digress). I was really impressed with the cabbage & bacon. It’s not a common topping for pizza but worked well. It was good to see the bacon used sparingly to complement the cabbage rather than the usual massive meat fix that American pizza is known for. The fennel sausage pizza was decent too, but more conventional. The fennel flavour came through in the sausage, which is great considering the number of times I’ve seen menus trying their damnedest to make their sausage sound fancy without delivering the taste. There was also macaroni cheese available as a side, but we didn’t try it. The décor is pretty cheap and drab(bohemian chic?), but service is relatively fast, so there not much reason to hang around. Orders are marked on a little ticket(another American hangover?) with staff bringing in slices whilst shouting out ticket numbers. All very inefficient and noisy, whatever happened to table numbers? So good pizza, but the price means I won’t be going out of my way to return. At ~£4−5 for most slices, the cost soon racks up. Three slices for £10 would have been nice(but I guess this is London). That considered, I’m grateful that voodoo have taken the pizza seriously, it would have been all too easy for them to do a half job — it’s not that difficult to sell hipsters pizza, but they’ve clearly gone to some effort to produce great food. Due to the cost I’ve been umming and ahhing whether it’s 3 or 4 stars, but being London I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that theat’s just the way it is! The food is top notch and that’s the main thing.

As a former Brooklyn resident with pizza places every block, I love that they serve slices. But those slices are overpriced.
