My girlfriend went for her second haircut in the space of three months after seeing the reviews for Witches Hut in Clapham online. The first one was fantastic, she looked amazing and she was thoroughly happy with the service, the care they took and the experience(her name was Robbie). Unfortunately this time wasn’t as pleasant as she has come out, burst into tears because of what has happened. The fact that a haircut is very sacred to anyone, let alone someone who has to put trust into a relatively new hairdressers is a big deal, something which was lacking from the minute she walked in. After asking for the exact same haircut, she didn’t receive that. Far from it. With the senior stylist being there within the shop, you’d expect it would look exactly the same with details of how the cut and colour was made was in their book of appointments to ensure the next stylist knows what the previous one has completed. From the moment the new stylist(Irish woman) started, she was rough, constantly catching her pierced ear, barely spoke a word and didn’t offer a complimentary drink until well into the haircut(which previously we had offered as soon as we walked in). With the haircut being a two colour with red fringe and dark red/Brown rest, the end result was a farce. From showing them pictures of her with the last haircut and seeing it now, their excuse was that they had done it exactly the same and that her hair must have been the problem. What fantastic customer service to blame the customer for the issue when the last haircut was done by the same people. They are blaming themselves without recitifying the situation. So to spend two hours having this done to an end result which is far from what it’s meant to be is shocking. And to top it off, when my girlfriend mentioned how it wasn’t like what she asked for, the hairdresser said she would go and do the fringe again but because of my girlfriend’s tight schedule of not being able to withstand another two hours of work, she said she couldn’t and the hairdresser then said she didn’t have the time either like a childish response to prove she has other more important clients? Thankfully my girlfriend is not comfortable with confrontation and just wanted to leave because of her haircut. It was a poor end to a pretty terrible experience along with paying £120 for it. Which for me is the cherry on top of an already pile of terrible mess that was a haircut at Witches Hut Clapham. I honestly hope a better explanation can be made of this and I hope this is just an off day for that stylist as I imagine the hair ratings will start to drop off pretty soon.

I couldn’t ask for a more pleasant visit to the hairdressers. I got a cut and colour for under £100 and it couldn’t have looked better… was really taken care of and offered so many coffee’s! They even have a bar!

Just came home from my first visit to Witches Hut and I’m very pleased with my cut. The reception staff were lovely and friendly and welcomed me very warmly. The shampoo was a quite rough and rushed though, however, I will return as my stylist really listened to what I wanted and gave me a fantastic cut and finished my hair beautifully.

This is the place I always go from now on to get my hair cut, trimmed, coloured or simply pampered. Great staff, always helpful and keen to advise on what suits best. Ice on the cake: 100m from where I live.

I like this place. Always a warm welcome, and I’ve never had to wait to be seen. Rarely do I have a chance to get half way through my orange juice before I’m seated. A mens cut with a senior stylist is £30 and for me, it is worth every penny. I’ve felt comfortable here and never rushed, and have always left feeling happy with the haircut I’ve got, as I feel that Miguel(who is my normal guy) always listens and knows what suits me.

I got a free haircut here with a trainee(this is available, just ask!) I had a fringe and layers put in — because my stylist was learning it took a while but that’s because she was being thorough/careful, and a senior stylist was checking up on everything as well. I’m very happy with the cut I got! The salon is really cool! There are little witch dolls in the window and quotations from Macbeth around the mirrors! Also plenty of magazines to read.

I go here for the quality of the work not for the surroundings. Most of the staff are really nice and it is a bustling place. They colour my hair really well every time and often give a head massage. Coffee, tea, water and soft drinks are always forthcoming. They stick you on the sofa while your colour develops but with a pile of magazines and a coffee, I never mind.

I was convinced for ages this place was called«Witches Tit» and it was only after staring at the wiggly font for some time the real name became apparent. not that it seems to mean much anyway! On my seemingly never-ending quest for a good regular hairdresser I popped in to Witches Hut a couple of times, pleased with one of the Aussie girls I was put with. Then of course she left to return to Australia and my search began again. In future I may introduce a set of interview questions for prospective hairdressers to include details on how long they intend to stay in the country…

I didn’t have a bad experience here but it wasn’t amazing either so I wasn’t inspired to return. The hairdressers, whilst good, aren’t as creative as many that you’ll find in London, and the prices don’t reflect this. When you leave a salon, you want to feel special, and the Witches Hut doesn’t deliver. A friend of mine also went and had the same feeling — an uninspired and disappointing but not awful haircut.

Love this place because my hairdresser is a) brilliant and b) really down to earth. It may be on the pavement in Clapham old town, but there’s none of that super trendy nonsense here, just great hair cuts, a relaxed atmosphere and chilled staff. You don’t go in feeling as though you’re out of place without a full face of make-up and the trendiest clothes! One of the best things is the Bumble & Bumble products they use, which are just amaaaaazing! They make your hair feel a million dollars and they smell so good you could eat them. Really good value and great for highlights. I used to opt for super trendy hairdressers thinking I would get a better cut and better highlights, when in fact I’ve found it the other way around. I’ve had some of my best hair cuts and highlights ever here. Definitely worth checking out if you live in or near Clapham although don’t let it get too booked up! ;o) Another great thing is they often have appointments at the last second for those emergencies!

Cheap haircuts! Free drinks! Good wine! £35 for a haircut, good value. A little impersonal due to there being so many hairdressers and not much room to sit and wait. My hairdresser, when she eventually located me after 15 minutes AND after walking in on me in the bathroom, was wearing a wig! I felt a little scared. But she was nice enough. Really didn’t enjoy the monotone and morose apprentice who washed my hair asking me those generic phrases we come to expect, ‘are you going out tonight?’, ‘what do you do for a job?’, ‘do you have a boyfriend?‘ Pros: Very close to Clapham Common tube; free drinks, and anything you want! Great mags. Cute resident dog. Cons: Washing chairs are very unstable. You may feel like an outcast once you arrive, you may not. Two couches only for waiting, and this is a HUGE place! Pretty happy with the cut. Might go back, might not, depends if I can find the same prices elsewhere!
