We were told to visit Yas while visiting London. We were literally at a conference at the Olympia, so it was an easy walk over. Unfortunately, the hostess/owner was so rude and basically kicked us out. She rudely stated there was a 30 minute wait. We said we’d be happy to wait, and she pointed to the door and said(in broken English, so maybe there was a language barrier) that there were no seats and to leave. BOO for the customer service.

If you’re not Persian, don’t bother coming here. They refuse service to potential customers who are not of Middle Eastern descent.

Mediocre quality food for iranian native, ugly old place, they trying to charge customer for any thing they could even if that is simple bread which supposed to come with all persian food as a inseparable ingredient, more expensive that supposed to be for a middle class mediocre quality food

Yas was a good dining experience for me, I’d give it 3.5 stars. Unlike other Unilocalers, I was seated right away. People were smoking hookah on the patio but I chose to sit inside and away from l that. Most importantly the food was delicious. I ordered lamb kebab with saffron rice and grilled tomato, hummus, olives and vine leaves. The lamb kebab was a nice quality meat but I wish the portion was a little larger. The saffron rice was flavourful but I had to fling out a chunk of butter that was melting in it, since I am dairy-free. The hummus was nice and creamy with a good flavour. The olives were not as meaty as I liked but thankfully no too salty, so you could eat a ton. The vine leaves were probably my favourite thing here. The rice inside was almost creamy.

Well, I do hate to say bad things about someone but my night here was a disaster. I should have consulted with Unilocal before going at Yas — now I see that there are many other people with complaints, similar to mine. We had a booked table and went with the intention to be seated right away and order some delicious Persian food. Sadly for my empty tummy, I started eating well after an hour from our arrival. The guys wondered for nearly 5 minutes where to put us, like we were random walk-ins. Then the waiting began — the staff was inadequate, distracted and just purely rude. They were poorly informed on the food they were handling and on my questions about how it was being prepared I got eye-rolling and muffled answers. Also, I was rather not impressed from the interior design and that’s another con on my list — it’s just a tasteless mix of random items. By that time, I was hoping the food would cope for the terrible service but that was not the case. It was average at most, the portions were small and some of the vegetables had this blank, rubber-ish taste. You won’t be seeing me here any time soon.

Excellent restaurant with big dining space which is partially out in the sun. It offers Persian food which is quite rare and our first there was interesting and unfamiliar. That dinner went great and now we’re often visitors at Yas. The prices are a little high but reasonable, for such quality dishes and service.

STAYCLEAROFTHISRESTAURANT, they moved us 3 times and took ages before they took our order, food was average, staff were chatting in the corner and ignoring people, décor is a mishmash so don’t expect a Persian atmosphere or Persian hospitality, the waitress snatched our plates away without saying a word. maybe smile and service is extra !! oohh yes there is an «optional» 10% service charge on all bills, i asked for the bill and yes they overcharged us, i managed to get hold of a guy with a silver Persian medallion hanging over his shirt that used to be white and showed him the Bill, and asked him what is the service charge % ?? he looked at me and said, well is 10– 12,5 or 15% I dont know WHY ?? well is more then 10% on the bill i told him, he looked at me and told me SO ?? WHATDOYOUWANTMETODOABOUTIT ?? we couldn’t beleave what he said, so I asked him to bring the Manager please. I am the Manager and I should have read the menu !! I told him in the Menu says 10% so what is this? by now all the board staff were looking as well as the other guests, did he say Sorry ?? ooh No instead he told me THISISIT you paid and what do i want ?? after few minutes arguing without any hint of being sorry, he gave me the money back !!! well I know they make enough money out of poor tourist or others who think YAS are honest people, well ladies and gentlemen, my advise to you STAYCLEAR of YAS restaurant, there are plenty of excellent Persian Restaurant with excellent food and service and Real Persian hospitality and feel sorry for these guys to cheat on people like that.

I tried to surprise my family by taking them to Yas restaurant [it was my daughter’s birthday] but it was the most regretful decision of my life. Most of you had an awful experience regarding the price and service charges. I can not make any comments about this matter as we didn’t even make it that far. To start with when we entered the restaurant the waiter ignored us. Waiting four minutes by the door he wasn’t even bothered to excuse us of waiting. Few times he passed and finally he managed to see our ‘invisibility’ and rudely told us Sorry, we don’t have a table .My husband asked him«All your tables are booked? Only 1⁄3 of the restaurant filled with customers how could be?» You won’t believe what was his answer«no, we are not booked but I have to clean a table and I don’ t have time» If you call that a customer service they better call Gordon Ramsey for some serious advice he would definitely would sort this staff out with his rich vocabulary. My only advice would be, try to ovoid going there as they don’t treat you with any respect as a customer.

I’ve been to Yas twice once on a Sunday and once on a Saturday night. The food was very good on both occasions. There was live music and dance on Saturday night. I love Yas for the atmospherethe smell of Shisha and grilled meat. The service is not the best you have to fight to get the waiters’ attention, but they have always been friendly. I would definitely recommend this place.

For an area so densely populated by Iranians, and with so many Iranian restaurants nearby, it is amazing that Yas have allowed their once high standards to slide so much. I assume this is due to the proximity of the Kensington Olympia venue, affording the restaurants in the area a steady stream of unwitting victims. The chicken was chewy and tasteless, houmus like shop-bought, with a plastic taste. Service was terrible, slow to begin, rushing us afterwards.

I’ve been going for years. Been twice recently since the refurb. First things first. The food is always very good. The starters are well prepared authentic examples of persian food. A selection of five starters will set you back £15 and frankly that’s a bargain. The Mirza Ghasemi is wonderfully smokey and powerful. They do a lovely noodle soup too and the chicken and potato salad is a favourite of mine. The bread is baked there on the spot, always to perfection. Main courses never disappoint either. Grilled meats are cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully. I can’t understand the person who said theirs came raw. It’s simply never happened with me. Best of all is the rice, which always comes beautifully cooked and served with butter and a grilled tomato. Perfect. Onto the service. Well, this admittedly is somewhat erratic. I’ve sat down there for lunch in the past and waited for 20 minutes before being offered a drink in an EMPTY restaurant! It can be very slow and amateurish no doubt. I often wonder whether it’s a cultural thing that I’m missing. Not sure. But something’s usually amiss, including wrong charging of bills, forgetting the bread order, not coming over with drinks etc etc. And this is when there are few customers there. I guess you either don’t mind all that for the excellent food and value, or you do. I don’t. It’s adds to the charm for me. But I can understand if people get frustrated. I would deffo recommend this place is you want good cheap Persian food and if you have time on your hands and don’t care about erratic service. It used to be open till 4am and that would probably still be a great time to go(I’m far too old for all that now!)

I just had a simple chicken and lamb kebab with rice and it was delish. The service was friendly, the environment inviting, and I liked the eclectic music. I’ll definitely stop by again.

Yas was definitely an experience. Cute little restaurant with simple food but done well. Three appetizers for £9 was a steal. Menu items are numbered and 3,6, and 7 were a lovely combo of houmous, garlic yoghurt sauce, and tzatziki — all very fresh and delicious! Especially the garlic yoghurt dip! Number 29 was a sampler platter for four, with meat 4 ways and some grilled tomatoes on a giant piece of naan. The four of us had a hard time eating it all! Great for groups, we definitely got our money’s worth! You kind of have to flag down the wait staff if you want/need something, but I go to restaurants for the food, not the service. A great simple, good meal. It was also very crowded around 8pm which is always a good sign in my book, especially since it’s not located in the most happening part of town. Also, there looked to be a dance floor, bar and DJ booth in the basement for those with late night urges! Signs boast a 4AM closing time.

An awful place. Situated on an ugly block of Hammersmith Road, I was first drawn to the persian naan bread ovens outside. Inside, there was crappy world music blaring on the stereo. The service was awful. It took the waiters 15 minutes to even notice we had sat down. The wait staff spoke very little English. I ordered the mixed grill which was a pile of brand dried out meats with enough salt to kill someone. The rice was also very very bland and way too dry. The wine was ridiculously bad as well. awful, awful, awful.

The food was reasonably good in this Persian restaurant, but the service was appalling. It completely ruined our meal. The waiting staff could not pronounce the names of the dishes, and referred to them by number(this is not acceptable in a restaurant). They made numerous mistakes with our order and the mishandling of the serving of our starters resulted in some of our party being served their main courses as others were being served their starters. And as some of our party were finished before others as a consequence, the table was stripped making my friends who were still eating feel like they needed to cling onto their plates out of fear they would also be whisked away from under their noses. This is not a comfortable way to enjoy a meal. At the end, we were overcharged. There seemed to be a veritable army of staff standing along a wall laughing and gossiping, but not at all paying attention to the diners. The staff are badly trained and badly managed. This restaurant is not recommended.
