My hubby and I were here for lunch during our recent visit to London, and it was delicious!!! We stayed at a hotel somewhat close to this tiny, charming spot, and with nowhere particular in mind, we wandered the streets looking for something tasty to eat. It was a week day lunch hour so this place was packed with business men and women suited up, talking business and gossip. We were definitely the most casual dressed people at the tiny place! haha The conveyor belt concept is just so fun! I’ve always wanted to go to one of these restaurants but hadn’t until Yazu. Everything looked amazing! I’ll say that every dish, except the edamame, was on a £4 plate, so the price ads up quickly when you’ve got an appetite. Everything we tasted from the conveyor belt was delish! It’s so easy to get impulsive and just grab another one! YOLO! hahaha We also noticed that most people in there ordered a hand roll directly from the server/cashier(made right then by the chef) so we decided to try one of those too, and it was great! Overall, a very delicious lunch in a very cute neighborhood! Just be sure to be ready for the price!

After a recent mediocre experience with Tastecard, I am so glad that I gave it another try because this place is AMAZING. This place feels like a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that is tucked away in a small alley in Mayfair. It only seats about 12 people, with about 6 on each side of a conveyor belt that runs down the middle of the room. We were a group of 3 and sat on the end so we could talk around the corner, but almost everyone else that came was a group of 2, or even solo. The Tastecard deal gave us 50% off, so we were confident that even though it was sushi, it would not be an expensive night. The concept is simple and straightforward — once you sit down, you can start taking plates off the belt right away. I don’t even think there is a menu, except for the list of specials on a blackboard on the wall. My friend did manage to order some hand rolls that she wanted, so it seems like they can accommodate requests. The plates are color coded to correspond with a price, with the most expensive being £4. Somehow all but one of my plates were black, the one that was £4, but my friends had a number of brown plates(£3.80). I just don’t remember seeing any of the cheap blues or greens. Each plate only has 2 pieces of sushi, which is ok when it is 50% off but probably rather expensive otherwise. But they were all high quality ingredients — with avocado, tempura prawn, fish roe, spicy tuna, etc. At least it wasn’t cucumber rolls for that price. When it was all said and done, we each had about 10 plates stacked up, and with a beer as well, it only came out to a little more than 20 pounds. I think that’s great value for sushi, great value for Mayfair, and I would definitely consider getting a Tastecard just to come here because it pays for itself(that’s based off of the Tastecard prices I’ve been seeing of around £30). This place would also be perfect if you want a quick bite, since you don’t have to wait for the food to be prepared. And because it only took us less than 45 minutes to finish off all that, it was still early in the night so we went for a beer at one of the many pubs around the corner. Ace.

Do you fancy eating phenomenal sushi in a restaurant that looks like someone’s kitchen with a conveyor belt installed? If so, get yourself to Yazu Sushi. Tucked away in Mayfair, this place was amazing, taking the personal ‘best sushi ever’ top spot for me. The food… oh my word the food. I don’t have enough words to explain how good this was. Highlights included salmon sashimi and tempura shrimp, but genuinely everything was delicious, no weak links. Pickled vegetables were particularly good too, though I am a pickle fiend. I also tried sake for the first time — not what I was expecting at all! The prices are alarmingly reasonable, with the most expensive dishes coming in at £4. As well as sushi and other dishes off the belt, you can order specials from the menu or just tell the chef what you would like. We were talked into getting some scallop sashimi which was incredibly fresh and delicious. Top tip: with a Taste Card you can get 50% off. With this deal, the bill for three people gorging themselves with a beer each came to £52. Without that discount I feel that this would still be okay — and of course you always have the option to *not* grab a gazillion dishes off the belt. Staff were unbelievably nice and welcoming, making sure we had a great experience as well as being genuinely friendly. Overall I love love love this place. If I lived in London I think I would be a regular.

Hole-in-the-wall store, with about a dozen seats around what much be the shortest conveyor belt in London. Sashimi, sushi and roll portions are small, but they are made properly on the spot(not plucked from a cooler, as in most chain stores). Most important, they are very tasty: the rice has the correct grain, and the fish above was very good — with the exception of the tuna, which was excellent. The typical salmon and avocado maki rolls were similarly excellent, but the unagi sushi a touch too«roasted».

I almost don’t want to review this place because I’m afraid of it catching on. The«restaurant» is so tiny I’m not even sure it can be called that, and the interior is somewhat sterile looking. But my goodness — it is DELICIOUS! It’s one of the few privileged places that has made my guess-I’m-staying-at-work-late-again-today dinner rotation. Why only 4 stars, then? Two things. They once forgot my miso soup(no big deal), but when I asked for it, they poured some powder in a cup and added hot water. The end result tasted very much like it had just come from powder. Two, the prices are steep in my opinion for the teensy(albeit adorable) portions. I don’t have that big of an appetite(at least not by American standards), but dinner usually runs me close to 20 pounds. If it weren’t for my overtime dinner allowance, I doubt I’d come very often.

I went here to use my Living Social deal and to be honest, I left disappointed. The staff was nice and the place was cozy, however the portion sizes of the dishes were small. We came around 8pm and they stopped making new dishes at 8:30pm which made us feel cheated with our voucher. The sushi was okay but I don’t think I’ll come back here.

My neighborhood sushi bar. The fish is fresh, the service is friendly and it is a couple of blocks from home. Good value, too.
