Zenith Bar

My friends and I were looking for a cheap place to spend a long weekend in London and this is the cheapest place we could find. Getting used to the hostels in mid-​Europe, we were expecting something better than this.
The place was very far and it was extremely dirty (I’m still trying to forget the dirtiest shower I’ve ever taken), the only good aspect was the english breakfast we were provided.
When it comes to choose a good hostel in London, it’s better to spend some more money and try to stay a little bit more centric (transportation costs are CRAZY).

Zenith Bar is a bar and venue in Islington, London. It has a large dance floor area with relaxing chairs around the against the walls. They face in towards the stage, which is quite sizable! I played there a few years ago with my band it was a decent gig but the bouncers are very strict with their under age policy. They said 16 year olds were allowed to enter but had to be stamped. On the day they declined ALL under 18s which left a very empty venue. Other than us and our 70 traveling fans there was hardly anyone else there. This made it a quite unnoticeable venue, other than the fact that all our friends had to stand outside and listen! Apart from that the drinks are reasonably priced. The area can be hired out for nights and to play.

I recently came here on a Sunday for the Z-​fest to see some free bands of which «the jpegs» were playing which is my mates band.
I’ve been here a few times in the past as it was just behind my old flat.
The bar itself is pretty good! Couch areas, plenty of seating and the ability to chill outside on the sidewalk on a nice day.
However on this day, the bartender was really confused about happy hour. Apparently there was one, but not when charging me. Then suddenly, it didn’t exist but moments earlier I was told that it did. Hmmm.
But all and all, i like this bar. It’s a bit different than your typical pub. It has a bit of rI get the feeling if I was local to the area and came here often, i would know everyone in the bar. I like that atmosphere!
and some man who i’m assuming is the owner or manager was very nice. I like it when people smile and greet me! The bartender… well good thing I wasn’t too thirsty! ha ha

Went here because I got a deal for 5 pounds for a burger and drinks for two. Sounded too good to be true… The place was completely empty and we were a bit scared. A supplier came in with a big bag of food from Iceland, so we knew where our food was coming from…
I guess it was worth the 5 pound deal, but I won’t be going back unless I want to eat at an empty place that serves frozen burgers from Iceland.
