The«not so great» great British pub. I don’t usually leave reviews but this was ridiculous. I stopped in on a Saturday hoping for a nice meal and beer, not what I got. About half of their food menu is not available on weekends. This would be fine, except for they don’t tell you until they deny your order requests one by one. I ended up eating just chips for dinner. I’ve had this problem at several Taylor Walker pubs and none of the bartenders seemed to care. It was as if they expected me to assume I wouldn’t be able to order the majority of food off the menu. Throw slow service and just average food into the mix, and now I will never return to a Taylor Walker pub.

Quite randomly bumped into this pub the other day when some mates and I were looking for a place for EPL. The place turned out to be quite a nice place(depending on which team you supported), and it’s got a good vibe! You know, it’s important there’s other people cheering along when you watch some good football and this is one of those pubs. You will definitely have the noise and crowed factor! Nice setting, not a lot of seats, make it a little closey but it’s nice. Only complaint is that the TV(s) are all way too small! For a pub this size, come on, put a mid size projector in! Good variety of tap beer and food.

Good beer selection, good pub food menu. Came in early afternoon, wasn’t overly crowded and service was friendly. Was right around the corner from my hotel, so very convenient. Would definitely come back.

One of my favorite pubs in London. Great bites, homey atmosphere, and delicious fish and chips. Heavy pours and wonderful ambiance.

Decent enough pub for the area. Prices are decent and there are plenty of tables and chairs. Stopped by after dinner but the food menu did look pretty good and would go back there if in the area. Expect your normal pub grub, with an emphasis on fish and chips.

Sorry to say that this was the first place in London that disappointed us. The service was poor. Our shared plate was delivered to us without silverware. The waitress went one to serve the table next to us — which was without silverware also and then yet another table before returning to us. Ok. So maybe she was overwhelmed, the place was packed but that doesn’t excuse the dry flavorless Sunday roast. The pork was dry and the gravy tasted like it was out of a jar. The veggies were cold but the potatoes were nice. The fish and chips that my wife order was rather ordinary but altogether not bad. Overall the staff seemed overwhelmed and stressed and the food was poor. It seem as though there wasn’t anyone leading the team. We will not be returning.

Waiter was a bit gloomy, but even so it was a pleasant lunch before my flight back to Prague.

Zetland Arms is a well decorated British pub. The beer is fine and the prices are reasonable.

During my stay in the area, I came to know zetland as my pub and frequented zetland almost every day! The first day that I arrived in London, I dropped my things off at my flat and decided to walk around to get a drink(because honestly, you need one after 11 hours of traveling). Zetland was the first pub I saw so I walked in, went straight to the bar and ordered a nice cold Stella. I got service right away and was already feeling tons better. After I finished my first Stella, I had trouble getting the attention of the staff but a nice older gentleman, who I came to know as, tony, was nice enough to flag someone down for me. On a separate visit I met another local who was so friendly and easy to talk to. He talked about how this bar was great and even gave me tips on where to eat! We talked and joked with the bartender lots and I really felt comfortable and taken care of. Overall, I really enjoy zetland! Give it a try!

Went multiple times but only for drinks, it was a fun place but was always a little too warm, the drinks were really expensive and it took a while to get service but it was still a good place to go with friends and there were often many locals there, especially on fridays.

We were a teensy bit intimidated going in here, but the food is well worth it. After a long day of roaming around London, we were looking for some classic pub fare that would end our final day in the city on a delicious note. We meandered our way back to the corner of the pub and after looking around the menu, finally decided on the salmon chili lime burger with a side of fries and mayo. They ask for you to order and pay at the same time up at the bar, so don’t be surprised! When our orders finally came out, we were head over heels in love with the non-traditional salmon burgers with a kick of lime. The classic thick cut fries and mayo were outstanding and to end off our meal, we had an amazing sponge cake drenched in warm syrup. Definitely worth a shot if you’re looking for a bite to eat in South Kensington!

Good pub. Decent amount of seating despite the large number of german football fans present that day. Great range of beers. Staff could be a little more friendly but again… german football fans.

I like this place although it is hard for me to be unbiased as it is my local being only a few doors away. It’s no great shakes but it is usually quite buzzy and at the weekends you’ll usually get talking to people as the tourists respond to the food ads in the windows and the food isn’t too bad. Staff are ok, not massively attentive but not rude either. Worth a visit.

Meh, neither great nor terrible. A pub’s pub. We had gone through a long day of exploring London and were looking for a spot to just sit and have a pint. Surprisingly, this was really the only pub in the area we could find. No worries. It’s large pub put when we went, packed with people. They have a ton of tables placed everywhere though(in every nook and cranny) so we found one. Of course, it was right under a television blaring a soccer game, so it was a little loud. They have a nice selection of ales and ciders but getting the bartender’s attention was a problem. They only had a few working for a lot of people. On game night, you think they might up that a bit, but ah well. They do food, but I didn’t try any of it. Just the cider. Looking for a place to get a drink or watch the game — you could find worst spots. Looking for places to hang out with friends or have a unique evening, you could find better spots. All in all, three stars.

The best part about this place was that it was about a one minute walk from our flat which was literally around the corner. We did experience poor service on more than one occasion as the servers and bartenders were often rude. It very well could have been that we were American but I’m not sure. We tried to be as polite as possible, but I’m sure there was a time or two that we were a little bit louder. The seating here was a little bit rough as this place did tend to get a little bit crowded and if you were ordering food it was hard to find a place to sit. Also, there were several times when they were out of some of the entrees or desserts which was quite a bummer. Overall the location was awesome for us but a time or two the service was quite a bummer and the lack of food on occasions was a little bit unfortunate. But the ample drink options and excellent location so close to our flat did make up for it!

London, and particularly the South Kensington area of London, is absolutely filled with quality pubs and restaurants, and it’s unfortunate that one so conveniently located and so well-known is such a disappointment. When initially walking by the Zetland Arms, you might think«Wow, that place is packed, so it must be good» You’d be wrong. While the Zetland Arms does offer ample seating and there is always a lively bunch outside, the service is absolutely dreadful. If you’re hungry, forget about it. Their sub-par pub food is provided by an incompetent staff who haven’t yet discovered how far a smile can go. Additionally, the drinks are poorly made and getting served can be the most difficult aspect of a visit even if you find yourself face-to-face with a seemingly idle bartender. However, what really got me was the prices. Almost ten pounds for a double drink? Ten pounds? Yes, this is London, and yes, this is Kensington, but for that much cash you should be getting your poundsworth, and I can assure you that that won’t be the case at the Zetland Arms. If you’re looking for a good night out, look elsewhere.

Oh… Zetland Arms how I miss you! I was studying abroad in London two quarters ago and lucky for me Zetland Arms was only a 2 minute walk from my flat at Manson Place. This was the go to place with my flatmates late at night when we were too lazy to take the tube to go anywhere else. My first time here was during one of my first few days when I first arrived in London. My flatmates and I wanted to experience the pub life and we decided to go here. We got the house wine and a couple of Bulmers which were both great except I personally prefer the the Bulmers. The bartenders were really nice and friendly and loved to run out of the pub to grab a picture or two with our group. Some nights it would be jammed pack and it would just be hard to find a table but that”s a given since it is a pub and everyone loves to go after a day’s work.

I’ve only got one word of advice for those people who are considering visiting the Zetland Arms: don’t. It isn’t even worthy of tho photo I’ve included, but I just want to be sure that you know the place by both name and by sight so that you don’t ever have the misfortune of ending up there. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s terrible service and here has it down to a tremendously fine art. Both times I’ve attempted to drink there I asked for a glass of Merlot only to be met with an expression akin to as if I was asking for a bottle of 1990 Krug. Both times they were out. One time, after disappearing for fifteen minutes(my friend spotted her on the other side of the bar flirting with a colleague) the barmaid came back with a glass of white, only to lazily explain that her English wasn’t very good so would that do instead. The answer, if you were wondering, is no. On my second visit I noticed them collecting dregs of beer into a glass whilst pulling a pint to later top up and serve to the next unsuspecting customer. Surely not the best way to pull a pint love. They seem to enjoy keeping you waiting only to eventually shove your glass on the bar without even glancing up as they swipe your cash. Plus this is the only place whose most expensive wine by the glass(you’d think this would be a safe bet) manages to taste like watered down vinegar and food colouring. Knowing here, perhaps it is. Oh and a few other pointers; the toilets smell like somebody died in there a year ago, the music and T. V is so loud that you can’t even hear yourself think, let alone attempt a conversation and the regular clientele are the sort of people your mother told you to avoid on a dark night. I can’t say it’s the worst place I’ve ever drunk in, but that’s only because I haven’t tried every pub in Britain. Never again.

I’m going to keep this review simple and I’m very sorry to say: You suck Zetland Arms! Your beer is flat… Your customer service sucks… Your bartenders don’t know how to smile… Your seats are uncomfortable and ridiculous! You are just plain bad when it comes to pubs… Even in England, and you can’t seem to do it right! Sorry, but you get 2 thumbs down from me.

Slow and bad service. At one point three people behind the bar were just walking back and forth doing god knows what while I was patiently waiting, and waiting and waiting. Food isn’t that special either. Really, there’s a myriad of much better pubs around here.
