A charming pub in a charming location! Wooden beams — check, roaring fire — check! There are lots of photos and signs to look at on the walls. The place is too popular if anything. I wasn’t hugely comfortable on a stool at the bar. It would be infinitely better if you can get a table, then you could really sit back and take your time. There is some additional seating upstairs. Up to 5 real ales(3 available when I was in situ. The only rare option was the Cornish Crown St Michaels bitter, which was pretty decent! There was also a real cider from Cornish Orchards. A sign says ‘mobile phones prohibited’ but there is no signal here anyway!

Although the address says Looe, this pub is in Polperro. We honeymooned opposite, on the other side of the harbour, up The Warren. The cottage was named Warren Haven. A most idyllic place to have your honeymoon. Fabulous sea wall to fish from, and I even catch them! Nice beach to swim out from into Talland Bay, but you need to watch the current. The Blue Peter pub is the last one on the quay before France. It has a fantastic atmosphere, wonderful food, wonderful people and a whole lot of lovely memories for us. We have been back a few times over the years, and may well do it again next year. Particularly, when the mullet are up on the Gulf Stream! All in all, a special place for us, and any other romantics who want to try it out. An afterthought, we decided to put up a couple of honeymoon photos!!! Seems like yesterday.

Every year on my trip to Polperro, I have a cup of tea at the Blue Peter. It’s really nice in there. A typically small english pub.

Visited at end of June. Good pub in great location close to harbour. Can get busy and noisy. Food served quickly and efficiently but nothing special.

I agree with bluedawn — lovely pub but a nightmare to get a seat. I enjoyed the food and the ale once I did get somewhere to sit. Worth a visit.

Fantastic pub! Loads of atmosphere. Has great live music and fabulous real ale. Food is also very nice with lots of fresh fish on the menu. Staff are friendly. In a great location — right on the quay side. Only drawback is can get very full and not many places to sit!

Visited this pub several times whilst on holiday particularly on a Sunday when they have local bands/singers on for the afternoon. Brillitan atmosphere even if you’re not into that type of music as they get all the customers to join in with drums, bells and tambourines. Looks like the least likely place to have a pub possible — up some windy stone stairs in the centre of Polperro on the way to the harbour, really old building with photographs covering the walls of customers who have visited from all over the world. A little crazy but good fun, traditional beers available.

What a lovely pub this is, full of olde world charm, real ales and overlooking the harbour and the sea beyond. I’ve no idea how old this pub is but it certainly looks as if its hundreds of years old. You couldn’t ask for a better location really and theres plenty of real ales to choose from mostly local from either Devon or Cornwall as well as guest beers from elsewhere. The food is excellent, plenty of seafood as you would expect and due to popular demand they are now serving food in the evenings. Its always a pleasure to visit a decent pub that hasn’t been spoiled. Whatever the time of year, you won’t be disappointed if you pay a visit.
