Rivermead Restaurant

Rivermead is set in the catering department of Barnfield College. I have tried it many times over the years. You are waited on by students with a stern maitre-​de watching over them for mistakes, they are being assessed all the time.
The wine list although small is reasonable and draught beers are on offer too, it seems to have a well stocked bar. The prices are unbelievably cheap for the types of menu and foods on offer. Its a set menu with choices, and they do ‘normal nights’ and ‘Special Theme nights’ eg Italian, American, etc. I am told they are also open for lunch but I have never tried it. All the food is cooked by students in the kitchen. They have just had a refurbishment and I was there before Christmas and was very impressed. On entry you are shown to your table in the bar area and your drinks order is taken then delivered, when your table is ready the wine waiters puts your drinks on his tray and escorts you through to his table. Its a great experience!
