Maliwan Restaurant

I’ll start by saying I love Thai food, its certainly one of my favourite cuisines, (if not my favourite) and Maliwan certainly does a very good job of providing reasonable Thai food, perhaps I’ve been spoilt in the past though but I have certainly had better. For Macclesfield though I doubt you’ll find much better

I was really impressed with this place, particularly the main courses.
Mixed starters were okay but basic — tempura vegetables included what was definitely an onion ring, the kind you would get with a pub burger. I didn’t really mind though because I found out that onion rings taste great with satay and chilli sauce.
For a main I had ‘tod kratiem prik Thai’ with beef. This was delicious with a rich, salty, spicy sauce. It came with lots of meat and a sprinkling of what I think was roasted/​dried garlic sprinkled over the top. I couldn’t help but spoon the left over sauce into my mouth after finishing my meal. A portion of stir fried noodles was enough to share between two, and they were also really nice.
I paid around £18 for starters, mains and beers. If you live in/​near Macclesfield or are in the area, I would definitely recommend this place.

Amazing little place, far better than it might look from the outside.

This place is a hidden gem. The food is amazing and the waiter just brilliant, if a little quirky. Try the golden baskets.
