Wonderful night out. We all found the food superb and cooked to perfection. Service was exceptional and they certainly deserved their tip. My only complaint is that there is only one menu item my friend with a nut allergy could eat. Needs a few more dishes for choice. All in all a great place to visit.

Buen servicio y comida ni hablar. Me encanta. Siempre vengo con mi esposo. Bueno para desayunos pero debes reservar. Buen ambiente

really good food and a good standard of service, a very good option for the ever declining food options in didsbury, well done to all at Alberts Didsbury.

I visited Alberts with family and friends on Friday evening. We had the fixed price menu of 2 courses for £11.95. The food was of great quality and well presented. I believe they also offer reduced price champagne on a Friday. The staff were very friendly, service was quick and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. All the tables were full, I would recommend making a reservation in advance. Great meal for a great price and in a luxurious environment. I can’t wait to go back!

For £11.95 the two course lunch menu is pretty hard to beat — especially on a weekday until 6pm. As the sun was shining and I really couldn’t be bothered cooking we thought we’d take advantage and have an early dinner in the sunshine. Especially as I’d heard Albert’s had updated to their summer menu. The old favourites are still there, fish and chips, steak frites, but some new editions including a puff pastry vegetable tart and the chicken and avocado salad — which I ordered. The salad was quite large with a whole grilled chicken breast which had a smoked paprika coating, plenty of avocado in a chunky salsa with sour cream on the side. My friend had the asparagus and courgette tart, which was a puff pastry tart rather than the usual shortcrust, served with a poached egg and herbed potatoes. Since it was a sunny day I opted for an iced tea to drink, I wish more places would do iced tea — one of the main things I miss about being in America! The crispy Szechuan beef noodle salad starter was amazing! I could have eaten a bigger portion as a main, the flavours were great with an interesting crunch from a sesame seed crust on the beef. My friend had the ham hock and broad bean salad, which also went down really well. The only thing stopping this from being a 5* review is the dessert selection. I’ve been disappointed with the dessert selection the last three or four times I’ve been, it’s predictable and very rarely changes. A rethink on this like the summer menu would be great.

Another Sunday visit to Albert’s and as always, very busy ! This time tried the Sunday menu, and available at £17.95 for 3 courses. Still a pretty good selection; although I would say fairly traditional. A beautiful and delicate starter of smoked salmon, with crème fraiche. The mains of Lancashire Cheese and Onion Pie with chunky chips and a cheese and chive sauce was really tasty, and filling too ! The dessert of a Chocolate Volcano maybe couldn’t quite match up to the starters and main — although still very nice. The service was excellent, even though they were busy, and we were a group of 4. Would happily visit again, and sample either menu.

Albert’s Didsbury is the super shiny, modern version of the Castlefield original; attracting the yummy mummys of the ‘burbs, it’s also very family friendly. We visited on a Sunday morning for a quick breakfast fix before the other half’s dad had to go home. Luckily, we also had the company of his brother, who works at Albert’s Shed, meaning we had an in-built history lesson of the company — and a few handshakes on the way in! The breakfast menu is bigger than at the Shed, including kippers, pancakes and eggs benedict. Two of the party had the eggs benedict(though were slightly unhappy as the eggs didn’t come runny, but they were quickly replaced), the other half had mushrooms on toast, topped with a few chunks of blue cheese, and I had a simple bacon butty, served on a brioche bun. Everything — other than those eggs — was cooked well, and there are a few little touches that made the experience just a bit cute; the milk comes in a small traditional jug, and ketchup in a small clip top jar rather than the usual ramekin or bottle. Nice Sunday morning experience away from our usual bare brick choices.

Great service and very good food. We found it to be a good value for the high quality of food and the ambiance. It’s upscale and in an interesting neighborhood. I had mushrooms on toast and my husband had the fish and chips.

In from the USA and wanting to treat my daughter to lunch. I must say I was very impressed with the quality of service, food and upscale décor. We had the Ceasar to start followed by lamb, fries and creamed leek. Not cheap but then you get what you pay for. Next time I’ll be taking the wife. Very impressed.

Worst place in Didsbury. If you’ve never been to Didsbury before please don’t go to this place. Didsbury has far more to offer than the pretentious, low quality, overpriced garbage that is on offer that this place. They have basically lifted their Castlefields venue to the suburbs with city centre prices. Food looked and tasted like the chef had bought Tesco value pasta and sauce, slapped into an oversized bowl followed up with overpriced, lowest common denominator beer selection. There are plenty more venues in West Didsbury that are superior in price, service with less pretentiousness.

We went here as a group of six and had to wait for a bit in the bar for a table as the place was quite bustling and full. We had a broad variety of appetizers and entrees and were very happy with them(my monkfish curry was really nice, for example). The selection of beer and wine was quite good at decent prices. I can certainly recommend this place for a good dinner out, worth a bit of a drive.

I was in Costa in Didsbury, waiting to meet my mum for lunch on my birthday. At that point, still wondering where on earth we were going to go! As my mum neared Didsbury I decided on Albert’s. We walked in from a blustery Tuesday afternoon into a chic, stylish dining room full of pristine white & vivid blue décor. We were sat down by the window, taking in the layout & the style of the place, I was very much reminded of Living Ventures’ Grill on NY St. It was also quite a busy service for a Tuesday lunchtime. Perusing the menu, I was at a quandary with what to have. The menu is varied with a vast amount of influences. I finally settled on the Malayan Chicken. Prior to the mains, we had a sharing plate. Compared to similar sharing mezze starters, this was quite minimalist, the crudités were nice, however olives, houmous & carrot sticks are hard to get wrong. The chicken was, quite simply, fantastic! Tender & juicy in a coconut infused sauce with jasmin rice & peppers. The cardamon pods interspersed throughout the rice was a very pleasant surprise as well. And the portion size was more than enough! The service was attentive throughout the lovely meal. I’d definitely recommend Albert’s, if you want something more on the finer side of dining.

Sometimes when I sit down to Unilocal a restaurant I think hmm, what exactly am I reviewing here, the food or the environment? So often it’s both, but with Albert’s the décor complements some visits there, and others not so much. Is that as confusing as it looks to me right now? Let’s clarify… Hands down, awesome food. Like, seriously. Full marks. We came here with parents on a Thursday night(the new Friday as all you cool cats know) and sat down to some delicious wine, a smattering of tomato bruschetta with a criminal amount of garlic(thank the lord I didn’t have to speak to anyone on a professional level the next day) and some hearty yet classy dishes. The boys wanted steak, and steak they got. As my friend’s dad always says, if the steak’s cooked properly, you don’t need a steak knife, and these melted away like butter. The seafood menu was like a pick n’ mix of fruits de la mer, and this is what the female contingent of the party opted for. My friend’s mum went for the fillet of seabass served with a choice of vegetables, and I asked about the fish stew and the Thai monkfish curry. The kind waitress recommended the stew and I was so glad she did. Mussels in their shells, chunks of potato, a tomato sauce and huge hunks of fish had me almost too full to the brim for pudding, where we all decided we’d fight over a single pannetone bread and butter pudding. Rich, fruity and dense, the podded vanilla custard was the perfect partner. After reading Bex T’s review I must concur wholeheartedly — Albert’s is sleek and chic. The über-modern clean blue lines would indeed feel at odds with a cosy Sunday roast dinner, although I do hear their roasts are legendary. It shan’t put me off, I’ll be back to try it. I’ll just be sure to don my Sunday best when I do!

Newly opened in Spring 2010, urban chic and lovely food.

We visited on a Wednesday evening to find it surprisingly busy. I shared one of the days specials — Chateaubriand with a friend, the meat was gorgeous and tender, the greens and veg lovely. It actually came with two sauces, a béarnaise and a gravy, the béarnaise was lovely but the gravy was somewhat lacking — if you can’t do it well, don’t do it at all, it didn’t need both, just with both being on offer I’m going to try them both! The chips where fine although I’m not a big lover of any chips I do understand they are a staple with steak. The service was impeccable, strangely though when the bill came the Chateaubriand £19 each was charged at £39?! We didn’t complain as it felt a bit stupid to quibble over a £1. Overall the atmosphere, service and food was brilliant, would definitely go again, just sadly wasn’t a perfect 5! maybe 4.5 if I could.
