Bargain Booze

I like to make an informed choice when purchasing alcohol, based on price, alcohol content, the look and feel of the bottle/​can, flavour, familiarity, whether or not it will go with the meal I am making… that’s why I mainly shop alone, and why anyone who shops with me has usually paid for their shopping and left the shop whilst I’m still pondering over whether to go for a multi-​pack of Becks or individual bottles of Kingfisher or… This is also the reason why I cannot stand this Bargain Booze. Everything is tucked away behind glass. You can’t touch it or read the labels. You don’t even have time to compare the prices as the staff always seem to be annoyed that you’ve woken them up with the jingly door sound made on entrance and want to get rid of you ASAP. I think this is why it’s mainly alcoholics who shop here — they already have £2.50 in exact change ready and they happily stagger off with their 8-​pack of own-​brand Pilsner.
It’s not even THAT bargainous. There are usually better offers on branded booze available in Morrisons, where you are free to ponder over the beverages to your hearts content.
