I ended up here a week ago for a bite to eat with a friend. I ordered a B-Rex(?) Burger, which was to be honest great, a lot of taste and the burger itself had a lot of flavour. Was quite nice how they asked how well I wanted my burger doing aswell, the little things make me happy! When ordering, it seems like everything is individual… Most place fries come with the meal etc, not here. Which is me being picky, but I didn’t like that. The staff are helpful, but it does seem to be quite hard to their attention. They were probably busy, but it shouldn’t take 5−10minutes for someone to provide a card reader. I had high hopes for this place, as I’ve never ate at the chain before. I was a little disappointed, so I will probably avoid coming here again but I think it’s more because of what I expect rather than the restaurant slacking. Overall, nice burger but wasn’t anything special which made me want to go back anytime soon.

Tried there chocolate and ores shake, cheese burger and onion rings. The foods nice but too overpriced.

This was the second time I have been to one of their branches, the first of which was during the time my girlfriend and I were seemingly on a mission to eat every burger in the world within the space of a few weeks, which whilst serving as a decent way of getting good comparisons, only served to point out that whilst the burgers at Byron are nice, they’re nothing special. This time we went for the Father Cheesemas and the Run Rarebit Run burgers, both of which are current specials which I found to be pretty good. To start we had Nachos, which I was pleasantly surprised with as they were tasty but also a decent portion when compared to some places. The staff were very friendly and the food came quickly(although it was dead so I would expect so a little bit) I enjoyed this visit to Byron more than the previous time and would recommend. I would also comment on the pricing being maybe a little higher than ideal but if memory serves me correctly it’s probably about the same as Solita which is just better overall.

I got a voucher for the Father Cheesemas preview at Byron so I popped along to the Piccadilly Gardens branch to redeem it. Staff were polite and helpful as soon as we arrived, showing us to our booked table — although we needn’t have bothered as it was pretty dead at 5.30 on a Monday. I ordered a Snapple iced tea which seemed pricey at £3.75 but came in a huge bottle with an enticingly frosty glass. To start we shared the nachos. This was a decent portion for two and they were pretty nice, although the cheese was a bit cold and hard. There was a generous amount of the toppings though which I liked to see. At £5.95 these were quite reasonable for a shared starter. As the voucher meant that I got any other burger free when I ordered the Father Cheesemas, we got that and the Run Rarebit Run. I think the Father Cheesemas was £12.95 and the Run Rarebit Run was £10.95, both without fries. I think this is quite expensive personally, although the burgers are quite large. We were sharing but I started with the Father Cheesemas. This is quite a burger. It’s a double bacon cheeseburger with pickles, lettuce, chipotle ketchup and honey mustard sauce. I feel like the two sauces kind of overpowered each other so I couldn’t really identify either of them. It was also quite over facing and if you’re anything like me you’ll struggle to eat it without getting ketchup and miscellaneous burger juices all over your face, hands etc. Note to Byron: give your customers more than one measly napkin! After scarfing half of that, I moved on to the Run Rarebit Run. Overall I have to say it was a mistake trying this one second, as it is incredibly rich with the very strong cheddar. My boyfriend, who tried this one first, said it was very nice though. It wasn’t unpleasant it was just very intense after already consuming a large amount of cheese and grease. Fries were fries, I can’t say much more. The bill, with one of the burgers being free, came to just over £30. As I feel I can get better and cheaper burgers elsewhere in Manchester I won’t be rushing back. However this place has good food, it’s conveniently located, and the food came out very quickly so I think it’s a good choice for grabbing a bite to eat before getting a train or tram.

*disclaimer, I loathe Piccadilly Gardens — it’s ugly, untidy and often unbearable to sit in. However I have found it hard to find somewhere that serves hamburgers, and would you believe it, there’s one in the P Gardens, Byron has an American diner feel to match the menu, but despite the American hamburgers the portions are fairly small and safe — tasty enough though. Fries are sold separately and are quite expensive for a standard side option. The service is a little slow and inattentive, although polite when they do remember. It’s weird. Decent food, not too expensive but the portions are small compared to other burger joints and the place isn’t my cup of tea. Go for hamburgers, If you don’t care for that I’d go to a more ostentatious rival with more crazy burgers.

You may think its a pretty pointless task reviewing a chain like Byron, as every restaurant is supposed to serve the same dishes, in the same atmosphere with the same friendly waiters. After my boyfriend was horribly disappointed with the Deansgate restaurant, I was a bit hesitant to go and review to be honest. Working super close to Piccadilly and watching the restaurant taking shape taking over the previous Kro site, one night just finishing work I found myself being handed a flyer for a free opening week burger. And here is the ultimate proof why giving a review to different chain makes perfect sense: I was pleasantly surprised. I have eaten myself through almost all the Manc burger places and this is one is the best chain so far. We had Byron, Le Smokey and a chicken burger and we were all really happy with our choice. No frozen patty, medium cooked. The chicken had a lovely marinade and my brother(a Nando´s addict) assured me it was even better than Nando´s chicken. My signature Byron burger was juicy, the cheese had a lovely strong flavour and my bun was not soggy. The fries were to standard, nothing special but certainly better than Five Guys. Sharing most of the fries we felt like trying the Courgette fries and they were my personal highlight at Byron. During lunchtime I am now tempted to just come back for the fries. Super super yummy I can tell you. Not soaked full of grease but super juicy and flavorful with a nice crunch. Overall, the only criticism I would have are the drinks prices. Certainly London level and a bit steep for Manchester.(Yet compared to the crap quality of Five Guys and the endless waiting time you have to endure there it is fairly reasonable!) Other than that I would pop in again just for the courgette fries. You are certainly not making a mistake going in here. 4 stars, as it´s better than just ok.

Tonight, my friend and I went along to the Byron Burger Club event at the new Byron at Piccadilly(it was at the Deansgate site the night before). Despite the plethora of fabulous burger options now in Manchester, I do have a soft spot for Byron. The burgers on their normal menu have never disappointed and the service is always very good. This was the first of their Burger Club events that I had been to and I would totally recommend it(you can register free online & they inform you when something is coming up. This event cost about £16) The star of this event was the Patty Melt but to start with we were given a bag a spiced popcorn to share. The popcorn was moreish and plentiful. We had it to begin with and were still munching until we left. The popcorn had a nice warmth to it without being too fiery for the milder palate. As I said above, the star(as you’d expect) was the burger. Served with a pickle and some sweet potato fries, the Patty Melt was excellent. A cheesy, meaty, messy delight that totally hit the spot. Byron described it as a cheese toastie meets a burger and that sums it up nicely. Joyous. A shame it’s not a regular menu item. Then to wash everything down we were served a toffee rum hard shake. This was an indulgent treat to round the night off. It could’ve been very sickly but the balance of toffee and rum flavours were strong enough to enjoy without overwhelming. A very enjoyable night. I’m going to be keeping my eyes on my email for the next event for sure.

Headed to Byron for lunch with some work friends. We had the free burger promotional voucher which was great and allowed you to get any burger from the menu for free. We all ordered sides and a drink to wash it down. The Byron burger was as always gorgeous; nicely cooked with bacon and cheese toppings. The shake an oreo shake with milk was so tasty but a meal in itself! Only order with a meal if you are starving! The meal was great; it took a little while to get served on a lunch which meant we had to rush out meal(we were a big group though).

I popped into Byron for a quick lunch on Thursday and have to say it was ok but nothing that made me massively excited. After working for years in London and walking past their branches quite a bit, I never massively felt much desire to go in but now that this branch has opened up right in the middle of the Piccadilly gardens I though why not give a shot. The burger was tasty enough — I had the B-rex(think jalapenos, gherkin, bacon, onion rings) — but considering this was supposed to be their poster boy for awesome it was all a bit meh compared to AF/Solita. Courgette Fries were quite nice alongside it but a burger, fries and a giner beer cost £16.95 which I though was very over priced! Overall not a bad experience, surroundings were nice enough and staff friendly but nothing to make me want to rush back.

Byron burgers is new to Picadilly gardens. We were invited to the preview of this restaurant opening(March 2015). When you walk in the restaurant has a good feel, staff very friendly and its quite spacious with seating around the back of the restaurant too. So we started off with nachos guacamole sour cream salsa. My main course I had the Byrons burger with courgette fries and for my desert was honeycomb blonde and it was the best, which was like a vanilla brownie if there was ever such a thing!

Visited this burger restaurant in Piccadilly Gardens on their first day of opening. Had a terrific 3 course meal. The Nachos to share are a lovely starter and come with melted cheese, and heaps of jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole and salsa. For a main course I went for a cheese burger with blue cheese. Unlike many other restaurants the blue cheese used at Byron is not just a dressing but an actual chunk of blue cheese. Unless specified otherwise the burgers are cooked medium which turns out to be quite red inside. If that’s not to your taste, ask for your burger to be cooked well well well done! If you want fries with your burger, this is classed as a side and costs extra. Personally, I’d prefer the fries to be included. I had a chocolate brownie with ice cream for dessert. Beautifully presented and at just the perfect temperature, I was in heaven. Drinkwise, they only seem to have 2 beers. The Byron IPA and another IPA from Camden Hells. I tried them both and have to say I preferred the taste of the Byron IPA. Good food, good service. The actual premises are in a great location but for me the décor is a bit clinical and there isn’t much of an ambience. Having said that, I’ll definitely be back if they have any special offers!
