Two things must ye know about Canadian Charcoal Pit. One: It is not Canadian. Two: there be no pit of charcoal.
I know, I know, disappointing. Please don’t cry. Canadian Charcoal Pit is, in actual fact, just a kebab shop. And a disticntly blah one at that.
I must admit that my CCP experiences were always by necessity because the Battered Cod was closed. In my desperation for chips, I turned to CCP. There’s nothing outright *wrong* with the food they serve, it’s just not very good. At all. The burgers are tough and chewy, the chips are soggy and the ketchup was weirdly gritty. The staff are rude, and overcharged me by giving me change for £5 back from £10. I had to threaten to report them (to whom? I dunno.) before they conceded that they were probably wrong. (And no, I wasn’t even drunk that time…)
All in all, I really wouldn’t recommend CCP, unless you have takeaway fever, and everywhere else is closed. Otherwise, just wait til you get home, mix some grit in with your ketchup and bob’s yer uncle!

One of a few decent take-​aways in Withington. Nice pizzas, friendly people, quite cheap. A-​OK in my book.
