It’s not often I find myself in Stalybridge, but it just so happened that I was helping the other half with some musical purchases. Well, my opinion’s hardly expert but I like to offer support. But after a long hard day of looking at pedals and converters and strings and amplifiers, do you know what I said? ‘I need some flamin’ nosh.’ Okay, I didn’t say that. But what an appropriate name! The logo and the title might make it feel like one of those dreaded family restaurants(if you’ve seen the first series of The IT Crowd you know exactly what I mean), but while it’s delightfully kid-friendly, it’s not over the top. I’m a sucker for Tex Mex food so as soon as I saw that the menu was part this and part Modern British, I was hooked in. The cute Native American images which decorate the warm, welcoming restaurant give it a kitsch feel, and the gargantuan brick-fired oven means it has a traditional, special feel too. Flamin’ doughballs swiftly became a favourite of ours, and the deep-fried squid which is so easy to get wrong felt more than so right. Garlic bread with a variety of toppings peppers the appetiser menu, and the Mediterranean platter is a super option to share with flatbread, sundried tomatoes and houmous. There are plenty of doughy delights in the form of a full pizza menu, pasta options in spades and if you’re like me and love a fajita, you won’t be disappointed. Mains range from salmon with rice to sea bass and scallop linguini, lamb rump with beans to surf and turf… there’s something down-to-earth for everyone at equally earthy prices. And the best part? Not the huge pudding menu which takes hours to choose from, although that is mighty special. No, every single thing you eat is made fresh on site, whether that’s ice cream or a pizza base. Plus most of the menu can be made into a fixed starter/main/dessert deal for £18.95. Not bad, hey? It’s seriously worth driving out of town for, especially if you have kids. I’ll be accompanying the BF to Stalybridge more and more for equipment shopping under the guise of support, but really, as soon as I say ‘Flamin’ Nosh?’, he’ll know the actual reason behind my sudden interest in effects pedals.

Well… flamin heck! THISPLACEOFFICALLYROCKS! I spent a fortune in here but I didn’t care, as I had the best laugh of my life in this place. The food is fantastic and the wine(well…) A group of us went for a birthday and it was relaxing and cheerful, therefore leading to me getting sloshed! O Well! But on a serious note, this is a restaurant that is top of the charts with me. It is traditional and warm feeling. They cook food from all over the world and have the best steaks in the whole of Tameside. It is pricey but what do you expect for good food? GO

This has to be, unfortunately, THE worst place to eat in Stalybridge. I have only been the once, but that was enough — i had the spare ribs, which were very sparingly hidden in a mush of sauce. This is not the place to go if you want a good night out. I regularly drive past and it’s often quite empty — says a lot i believe.

I have been here twice and I was slightly dissapointed each time, I expected it to be a mexican style place when I went at the time of its opening(that was how it was marketed on the mail shots etc) but was surprised at the mixture of cuisines. There are choices of pizza from a fired oven, Pasta, Fajitas, Chilli and a number of other mains. I just didnt find it very authentic. Some of my friends have been and loved it so its a personal opinion but I will not be rushin back !.
