Lad’s Corner

I cannot belieeeeeeeeeve there is a shop called Lad’s Corner! Mad! When I walked past yesterday after a borrrring conference at Chancellors, I HAD to go in, just to see what was going on in there! Do they sell lad exclusively stuff (you know, wank mags and Lynx) or lads?
My questions were answered. Yes, they have the odd wank mag, and I believe the small bathroom section had Lynx, but it’s just a normal corner shop. Oh, howww disappointing. But I did need a pint of milk, so that took the edge off.
This is not a special shop for lads. Girls can go in and buy stuff too. Expect your usual array of corner shop stuff. The essential foodstuffs, a decent smattering of cheapo booze sold for sliiightly unreasonable prices, and then the mad stuff like tinned pies and pickled stuff.
It’s OK, but if I lived round there, I’d only pop in if big Saino was closed.

Wherever there are students, there will be corner shops. They go hand in hand, like Jack and Jill, but it’s usually cheap booze and not pails of water that are the target of their travels.
Lad’s Corner sits just opposite the entrance to the Armitage Sports Centre, and has all the outward charm you would expect from the sort of place that acts like a chav vortex, dragging them from under their rocks into a concentrated, listless heap outside. If you can avoid those times though, you’ll find a pretty decent little corner shop, all things considered.
It sells various tins, snacks, drinks, sweets, the obligatory cheap booze and a few vegetables, rather unusually. You wouldn’t come here for anything more than a quick bite to keep you going, but that’s all the shop expects you to do, and therefore stocks accordingly. The prices are low, as you would expect, so if you live nearby and don’t need anything fancy, it should be able to cover you.
