I like the Revolution chain, good deals always available on drinks and food(competent pub grub style) and always lively. This one is generally one of my favourites. A large navigable space with lots of wood and stripped back brick gives it a great modern urban feel. There is a small terrace out front good for people watching. The down side was the volume(I’m either too old or hadn’t drunk enough!). I really did want to stay but felt driven out by thumping dance music, and that’s before 9! It had quite a turnover while I was there so I guess I wasn’t the only one. Maybe in future I’ll stick to daytime visits. A shame.

The music, the food and the milkshakes are nice. Good for a quiet lunch with someone special on a Sunday.

Revolution, another one of these pub/bar chains in the UK. Considering I wasn’t expecting much, this was a pleasant change! To begin with, the price. Me and my friend both wanted a non alcoholic drink, and were charged £3.50 for 2SMALL orange juices… I mean, that seems a little excessive if you ask me! Especially when two shots were 2 pounds!!! Then the staff, rude. The bartender seemed to have a right face on him when a) we only ordered soft drinks & b) I didn’t leave him a tip. I’m sorry, do you think this is America?! Then while we were sat down I saw the bar staff chatting, WITHTHEIRBACKSTOTHECLIENTS. Never ever ever a sign of a good pub. The whole feel of this place is cheap, and thats what I think they want. People to go here, get drunk as cheaply as possible and then go home with someone who you won’t remember their name in the morning… I think I’ll stick to independent pubs.

This modern/trendy bar in the middle of student-town in Fallowfield is a popular spot for a pint but mostly for their cocktails and shot mixers. The atmosphere is normally very good in this bar with a small downstairs dancefloor to accompany the large downstairs bar and seating areas perfect for large groups with booths available as well as two-seater tables. The upstairs floor provides a larger dancefloor specifically to make it into a nightclub which can get very busy on Friday/Saturday nights and is very popular with students of the surrounding residency areas and halls. The prices can be high at times but it is definitely worth going to, to enjoy a cocktail or two.

Really welcoming and sociable bar staff. I only wish the wine here was as reasonably priced and satisfying as the grub.

Fallowfield is a complete law unto itself. In any other city, the main student area might have the odd pub — a couple of shops, maybe. In Fallowfield you have everything you need, including a Vodka Revolution. Despite being 10 minutes on the bus from the Oxford Road branch, the Vodka Revolution in Fallowfield is buzzing every time I walk past the door. The bar is bigger than the branch on Oxford Road, and makes full use of the space, with a fantastic long serving bar and comfy, private seating booths. On the few occasions I have been in, the bar area is louder, busier and a damn sight more raucous than its city counterparts, and is always full of life and excitement. The bar is great fun to be in, and, as with all Vodka Revolutions, is even better when armed with a Privilege card. As with many of the venues in Fallowfield, it is a great place to be to socialise and meet new people. Take advantage of the venue’s ideal location within the heart of the student community, and you cannot fail to have a great time.

Now I know every student in Fallowfield has, at some point visited the Revolution(Revs) but really it’s underestimated. For the lazy students among us who struggle to find the energy to go too far afield for drinks, it’s perfect. Plus the food is pretty cheap and really good. Go relatively early if you want food so you can actually hear the other people you’re with — the music gets way louder after about 8. Try the Chicken and Chorizo Penne(£6.95) mixed with pesto and combined with a bottle of wine is a lovely way to catch up with a friend. The Mexican Chicken Wrap(£5.50) is also really tasty. I doubt anyone needs me to go through all the cocktails but suffice to say they’re good. The Bison Grass Mojito is a personal fave but on a Thursday, there’s a £2.50 cocktail menu made with Revolution vodka and they’re equally delicious. The shots are all pretty amazing too. Although don’t try the Birthday Cake one — it’s soooo sweet and a little bit sickly. Also, the doormen have great banter which is always the making of a good night out.

I’m not really a fan of Revs, to be honest. Mainly because I do not like vodka. Yes, even raspberry flavoured vodka. I don’t like it, and I mistrust it slightly because it comes from potatoes, and that is just too weird for me. This branch of Revs is one of the crappiest I’ve ever been in. I first entered it in my first year of uni, and was astounded by its general air of crapness. Last time I was there was a couple of months ago… and it’s still the same, except that they’ve got ghastly plasma screens set up, with photos of the previous night’s customers grinning in earnest at the camera toted by the girl who wanders round ruining your conversation by shouting ‘say cheese!’ and photographing you mid-rant, with your eyes half closed. The drinks here are as at any Revs, and the Scarlet Miss Charlotte is an OK cocktail(because you can’t taste the vodka). As well as booze, this branch sells little cupcakes on the bar. I wasn’t allowed one because I had fallen over and called the boyf a tit, and had run out of money. Shame, they looked tasty. In Fallowfield, the crapness of this place escapes too much scrutiny because, well, it’s Fallowfield. If this were anywhere else, though, they’d have to buck up their ideas and make it a bit more… nice.

This bar serves as the beachhead for the Revolution chain’s foray into Fallowfield, and judging by the amount of activity which continually descends outside it of an evening, it does quite well for itself. Inside it is kept clean and tidy, with an upstairs area which, like many places in Fallowfield, opens erratically at best. The bar is long, service relatively prompt and they have a few good drinks offers at night. What’s not to like, right? Well, it’s the atmosphere. Firstly, it adheres to the seemingly unified view of many bars in Manchester that what people enjoy most when they have no dance floor available is to listen to ear-shatteringly loud music on its own. Maybe they do. Maybe I’ve just fallen off the student train and am just bouncing along the gravel in its wake, a discarded husk, no longer needed. Or maybe it’s just a bloody stupid idea. The second thing is the fact that it seems to give off an air of being high class, as if serving vodka in a variety of flavours is somehow sophisticated. Unlike Font down the road, which revels in being a relaxed student hang-out, Revolution reaches above its grasp and ends up looking out of place. Too expensive for a true student joint, too amateur for a lounge environment, it stumbles for me at the first hurdle.

Let’s cut to the chase — there are three reasons students go to this particular branch of Revolution: 1 — To get completely legless as quickly and cheaply as possible. 2 — To get completely legless as quickly and cheaply as possible AND pull an equally legless stranger. 3 — To get completely legless as quickly and cheaply as possible ANDTHEN re-enact some of the fight scenes from Bruce Lee movies very, very badly. If you’re over twenty-five and none of the above appeals to you, you’re best to stay away.

This bar is a link in the Revolution chain that specialise in all types of Vodka and its many possible concoctions, and it is unreservedly for those who don’t take one iota of a leaf out of the Victor Meldrew’s book. By that I mean you would be well advised that it is FULL of students — you would know this if you lived in the area, having said that if you are reading this and you live in the area, then you are probably a student — in which case, i am sorry if I have offended you(but not very sorry) The atmosphere at the weekends is lively, and the music is pumping out and extremely good drinks offers do a top job in getting those either too drunk or too stoned to venture those few extra miles into town, to part with a large portion of their parents hard earned cash. If you are wanting a place to eat during the week in Fallowfield, then you could do far worse than the Menu Revolution has to offer like gourmet burgers. So, if you are a thirty-something like me who requires a little more than a free shot to keep you happy and would not be won over by a free pair of Revolution branded thongs… best to leave it to the the next generation to binge drink themselves into oblivion Enjoy it young ones!!! x

Lively Revolution that is always busy and full of older students. They do the usual Revolution menu. The place is probably better in the evenings but is good every day of the week. It does get busy on the weekends so you are left hovering on the sides with your drinks. Not good if you buy the tray of shots.

Revolution is a well known chain bar, which specialises in Vodka. You can get all sorts of vodka shots as well as the normal drinks. The music is normally loud and often is a good variety of DJs and tunes. Personally, I go mostly for the food, which isn’t cheap but becomes good value when you get a Revolution card, as you get 2 for 1 on everything. The burgers especially are very good. This particular Revolution is in Fallowfield, and has a really nice atmosphere and is on two floors. It’s nice in the summer, when you can sit outside.

I am usually a fan of Revolution bars, but this one, in central Fallowfield is really not worth the bother. A much better option is the Revolution on Oxford Street right in the city centre. Given its location, in student central, this Revolution is always packed and it is nigh on impossible to get served at the bar, let alone to get a seat. Also, the music is ridiculously loud, given that it is a bar as opposed to a club. Drinks are really tasty, the cocktails are fantastic, and there are lots of crazy flavoured shots on offer. If you go there often it is worth buying a Revolution card which offers drinks deals to members.

Revolution is one of the famous chain of vodka bars, serving as many different brands of vodka and styles of cocktails as you can think of. They are notoriously expensive(think £6 for a chocolate vodka cocktail) but you can get loyalty cards and promotions making it a lot cheaper2 for the price of 1 and so on. My friend got a pair of Revolution knickers free with a drink once, which was quite random! The chocolate vodka cocktail is a must, made with cream and chocolatemmm! Full of calories, but gorgeously decadent. The bar staff are all really well trained and can mix up all sorts of exotic cocktails in a flash. The Fallowfield branch is smaller and friendlier, and does lots of yummy food in the daytimes — think gourmet burgers, and lovely desserts. Again some good deals to be had if you have a loyalty card. It also has comfy seats and pretty chandeliers on the ceiling! Situated on the main road in Fallowfield just up from Sainsburys.

I have to agree with the below commenter about this particular bar; it’s pretty much packed with students by about 8pm and impossible to even get to and from the bar, let alone find somewhere to sit. The bar is often so packed here that even when you do get served, the staff are harrassed and annoyed, and getting away from the bar without spilling most of your drink on someone else is impossible. It’s not a good venue for a date, or for people who like to talk over their drinks; it’s a good venue for people who like shouting at each other over the awful awful music and for people who especially enjoy standing up and not being able to move for a few hours. Another bad point already mentioned, the horrific toilets — always out of paper and you have to traverse a pool of godknowswhat to get in and out by about 9pm, disgusting. However, it does gain points for the quite nice cocktails, particularly the one with apple and cinnamon vodkas in.

I went to this bar at about 11 on a saturday night i think it was and it was SO packed. I finally managed to get through everyone to get to the skanky toilets downstairs and by the time I’d got through the queue and got back upstairs I just could not be bothered to queue at the bar. Everyone was off their faces and they had obviously just let way too many people in, there was no room to move. I dont know what it’s like in the day but at night there was just way too many people, not enough space and definitely not enough toilet paper!

This bar is located in the Fallowfield area of manchester, which is the centre of studentville. It’s an excellent bar to meet with friends for a drink or generally to meet new people, it’s small enough to be cozy but not too big to feel alienation. It’s also a nice place to take a girl for a date. The atmosphere is always lively as with many student places. Its a nice place to have a drink before you head off to town to one of the major night clubs. Highly recommended.
