This is a cute little coffee and tea shop in Chorlton. It’s warming, cosy and with a pleasing interior that exudes shabby chic vintage vibes. The staff were genuinely friendly when spoken to but quite reserved and not pushy. The drinks menu offers Monmouth coffee(renowned London coffee roasters), a selection or loose leaf teas(displayed charmingly in Kilner jars on a shelf), a reasonably bog standard hot chocolate and your usual affair of cold beverages. Here’s not a place for more specialist brewing techniques(V60s, Syphons and the like) however, my flat white was a good’n. No fancy latte art, but pretty good milk texturing nonetheless. I genuinely really enjoyed the flavour and got my caffeine buzz! I didn’t have anything to eat, yet, the cakes were a treat for the eyes if nothing else! The cheeky salted caramel and popcorn cake looked a bit naughty. The afternoon tea for two is well priced. £6.50 for a tea pot for two with a scone(with the clotted cream and jam) each. Afternoon tea has become such a pricey affair– and sometimes all I want is a good scone! Jeez. They offer sandwiches, paninis, jacket spuds etc. too. All in all a great little spot for a catch up with a friend over a brew.

Serendipitea is a small but very sweet little tea shop and a perfect addition to the other indies on Beech Road. I’ve popped here a couple of times now and both times have enjoyed a well made cappuccino and a delicious ‘Chorlton Chai’ in relaxing surroundings and with good but understated service. What I like about this place is that you can just sit and enjoy a brew and a natter for as long as you like without feeling like you’re taking up space and getting in the way like you sometimes can if you hang out too long. They have a pretty extensive list of loose leaf teas to try, all of which sound pretty darn good and if based on the excellent standard of the house chai(flavoursome and spiced with a really good hit of chilli) will be darn good in taste too. I don’t think they do any food other than cakes but they look to have a really good selection of classics and more pimped up decadent type cakes/brownies etc — next time I go I just need to try some!

So it’s about the heart here. The cakes are home made and really lovely, I had chocolate and cheesecake berry tart, I probably liked it more than I normally would because the girl who made it was so sweet! Nevertheless it still tasted truly awesome. They even came over and let us try the Victoria Sponge tea for free which was subtly sweet and fragrant. This leads me nicely to talk about the wonderful Sweet Teas which they create for the shop with the assistance of the London based Blends For Friends company. The Serendipitea range is based on all your favourite(read MY favourite) cakes and looks to be absolutely great! I definitely recommend a visit.
