After having a shaky start with with this place I have since been back… and it really does depend who you get that changes the experience. When I first came here I was continiously insulted by the hair dresser how horrible my hair was, and how it needed cutting from waist length to below my shoulders… and when he finished he curled it so i couldnt see the end result. Since then I have brought my partner in(who has long hair) and was treated so lovely, and they did a great job. I came in again and got served by the lady… wow what a lovely difference. This time she kept complimenting my hair and knew exactly what I wanted. She knew I was trying to keep it long so she skillfully layered my hair so the snapped ends were removed. I felt completely relaxed and trusted her which is rare in my case. She also showed me the back, recommended products and styled my hair beautifully. just a shame it was raining outside! The prices start at £14 for a dry cut, £20 for a cut and wash and anything up to £38 for a cut, wash and blow dry. I just go in for a dry cut, there is no booking system so I recommend you go before 5pm as a lot of people use it when they finish work.

I’ve had many good hair cuts from here. It’s great for people with changeable timetables, because you can just turn up when you have a couple of hours to spare. Usually end up with a different hair dresser each time I go which is a bit annoying, I’ve only had one occasion where she nearly scalped me(still a good cut, just painful), every other time has been exactly what I wanted. Average prices, but fantastic 20% student discount Mon-Fri. This is my favourite manchester salon and I don’t intend on changing any time soon. My boyfriend has his hair cut here regularly too and has never had a bad cut.

no need for appointment here but you can wait up to fourty minuets. Have been to the more expensive salons but this is the best ! as have not had any diasasters here like you can in other salons as the girls tend to make a mess of your hair our of spite. my friend recently went to toni and guys with long hair for a trim and ended up with a bob(i cried with her) I have the same person cutting my hair and they listein and cut to my exact command. prices is around £26 for a wash cut and blow dry as i have fairly longish hair so its not bad as it takes awhile for it to dry. friendly staff and a helpful manager and most of all some one i can trust with a pair of sissors in their hands. lol! funny but true!

So, I’m not one for pre-planning and I found myself in Manchester at 5pm with 2 hours to spare, and a haystack of hair. Last minute evening haircut in the UK’s supposed second capital city — how hard could that be?! HARD. Apparently people only get their hair cut past 5pm on a Thursday. I did not get this memo. So on a Wednesday evening I can only find two city centre salons open till 7pm, both are fully booked, and my plan is foiled until I pass by Supercuts. Supercuts is not somewhere I’d normally choose to go, but the ability to walk in and get a haircut then and there was absolutely brilliant. I did have to wait for 30 minutes, but that was fine as I had time on my hands. I played it safe and basically had a few inches off and choppy layers. Didn’t take a photo, as I wasn’t prepared enough, and after years of trying I now realise I’ll need more than a pair of shears to get me looking like Alexa Chung… I’ve got to say that I was impressed by the level of service. The hairdresser made doubly sure she understood what I wanted, made suggestions and really took her time with the cut. I felt that she listened to me and although she talked me through a couple of products that she used, there was no hard sell and I do think they helped my hair. Supercuts didn’t blow my mind, but they did good! As someone who doesn’t really relish sitting in front of a mirror for a six hour hair appointment(yes, that has happened to me) but equally wants to feel like I’m getting my money’s worth, I think Supercuts is spot on. At around £33 for longish hair it’s very affordable but also not exactly bargain basement. I’d definitely think about going to them again, if only for the ease of it. One minor quibble is that I’m not sure I can choose who would cut my hair, but this may be possible. To be honest I saw no bad cuts whilst I was there and other stylists looked just as attentive, if not a bit understaffed. I wish other salons would be a bit more like Supercuts and ease up on their rigid appoint systems.

For a budget hairdressers, look no further than Supercuts. Don’t come here expecting 5 star treatment, because that just isn’t the aim. But if you want a decent, quick cut then Supercuts is the place to go. There is no bookings system, you simply turn up and wait. This can either be to your advantage or disadvantage, depending on the time you go. If you can be there before opening time, then the waiting time is significantly reduced, but be warned you could be waiting up to 2 hours on occasion. Your patience will definitely be tested! The cost is reasonable. Approximately £12 for a dry cut, and up to £35 for a wash, cut and blow dry with straighteners.

This is a great place to have that lil’ trim or that new look you wanted without shelling out £70 for the wash, the cut and the blow dry. There is no appointment needed and hence many a times people just walk in while their shopping trips in the Arndale. The wait might be a little more than accounted for at times, but it’s worth it. They also do these slices and highlights for a very meagre amount, all depending on the length of your hair. The staff is extremely jovial and friendly with lots of suggestions to keep you excited for the entire while! Finally, it’s a great little place, tucked into Arndale’s corner, waiting to be approached, giving out the best!

When I came to uni I happened to be put in a room next to a girl who was equally as ungirly as me. Phew. My nightmares of discussing blusher, listening to the Black Eyed Peas and going out on Deansgate Locks were over. Not that there’s anything wrong with these girls, I know plenty of them. But they usually get their hair cut at Razor’s Edge or Toni and Guy. It was my ungirly friend who recommended Supercuts to me about 5 years ago and I have barely deviated from the place since. You don’t have to make an appointment. In fact, you can’t make an appointment, which is great for people like me who actually dread appointments from the second they’re made. This does, of course, mean that the wait can sometimes be a little long, so bring a book. The staff are usually pretty friendly but not too over the top. Last time I had a nice girl from Stoke, who actually commuted from there every day to cut hair! The prices are the cheapest I’ve seen in Manchester. It’s usually about £29 for me, which includes wash, cut and blowdry, but the price depends on the length of your hair and what you want doing. The staff won’t start snipping until you’re happy with the price quoted. I’ve always been happy with the haircuts I’ve received here, and would be happy to recommend Supercuts to anyone(apart from the girly girls, they can stick with Toni and Guy). All in all, the least pretentious hairdressers you’ll find.

Located in the Arndale Centre, Supercuts is not the most luxurious hairdressers by any standard, and definitely not one renowned for its friendly staff, you definitely get what you pay for here. I would only recommend this place for the basic short back and sides or someone looking to save a bit of cash.
