Vineyard is a small, new comer restaurant to Burton Road and it serves only Turkish cuisine. They pride themselves on serving authentic, Turkish dishes(including both hot and cold mezes, and other aromatic Turkish cuisine). On their menu and website it does state that pride themselves on their fine wines which complement their dishes — however I’m afraid that on the night I visited, I opted for a non-alcoholic option so I cannot provide comment on their wine selection. The serving staff were absolutely lovely — they answered our questions in relation to the menu and they didn’t quiver in the slightest when my friend, upon ordering, asked for her chosen meal to be amended slightly so it better suited her. After perusing over the menu for a while I decided upon the Yahni(Paprika lamb Casserole), which consisted of baked lamb that had been marinated in paprika and red wine and which was served with a side salad and a good sized portion of rice. This in my opinion was a brilliant choice as it was full of flavour, not too rich and very well seasoned. I didn’t particularly feel that that the salad was necessary, but I would presume that salad has a common place in Turkish meals and that’s why it is offered as a side for the majority of dishes on the menu. The atmosphere was lovely, their were couples, families and what looked like business associated dining at the same time as us so it seems that Vineyard is bringing in a whole range of customers, but I see why — it is a great place to eat.

Have eaten here 3 times since it opened earlier this year(after replacing Rozo), and the food has been excellent each time. As the description says, it’s Turkish/Mediterranean cooking — for me it’s the sort of food that makes you feel like you’re on holiday. Burton road has a lot of well established bars and restaurants; this place is failry new but deserves to become another one of them.

Fantastic value and good quality Turkish cuisine on Burton Road. On a street where your«friends next door» kind of food actually costs more, for a burger or sandwich, we got a two-course lunch here for 7.95. I had succulent, delicately spiced koftas for starters and a grilled chicken salad for main, while my friend had tabbouleh for starters and a chicken kebab with rice for main. They also have a range of drinks and are licensed, and it is very tastefully decorated in a contemporary style with polite and friendly staff. We were so disappointed by the menu of a different place across the street, that I noticed the word«Turkish» on their placard under Vineyard, and walked across to have a look. Glad I did! But I think that this also highlights a problem with their name. You have to work out what kind of cuisine it is by looking closer. This might explain why this place was fairly empty while the«friends next door» type places were busy though they cost more for less quality. I would personally make it more obvious it is Turkish for passers by.

Vineyard has opened up at the location where Rozo used to be, at the corner of Burton Road and Orchard Street, in West Didsbury. We bumped into Vineyard by accident as we were originally planning to eat at Thyme Out, which was full on Sunday afternoon. Slightly disappointed we started to walk back along Burton Road, when we spotted Vineyard. I am surprised I recognised the logo from what used to be Istanbul Grill on Wilmslow Road, DIdsbury, now replaced by Chalk Bar and Grill. I asked the guy who confirmed this. For starters we had a mixed meze platter for two(between the four of us). For the mains, three of us went for a mixed meat platter comprising of lamb chops, lamb kofta and grilled chicken served with rice and two sauces. My wife went for the Falafel. I must admit everything we ordered was exceptionally well made. Think about it, the Turkish food we ate was well received by our Greek friends. The meat was grilled to perfection. Case in point: The lamb chop was grilled such that it was easy to tear off the bone, had a lot of flavour and still felt very succulent. However I admit, I missed the presence of a coolant such as a yogurt. Oh, wait, we ordered the tzatziki. To finish off, we ordered 3 portions of freshly made baklava with turkish coffee and a tea. The service was also of very high standard and one of the partners who runs the place, actually came out and spoke to us, as we had mentioned Istanbul Grill to them. We had a great experience of lunching here and will definitely go back again. Again, as with everywhere else, I sincerely hope they continue to maintain their high standards.
