Not really a good choice of food on value food. Poor portions and not brilliant food. The food service can be very slow and fail to check if you’re enjoying you’re meal. Overall very very poor, please go to The Mill house or one of the Belper pubs if you want good prices, good food and good service.

The Crown is one of the Weatherspoons pubs and is situated right in the centre of Matlock. It is a nice, big pub with a friendly atmosphere. There are plenty of seats and a big, open bar area at the back. The staff were helpful and friendly and there was a wide choice of food available on the menu. I am a vegetarian and they had some impressive veggie meals on offer too! When the food arrived, it was hot and delicious and the portion sizes were larger than expected which was a bonus! They also have a wide variety of drinks, ranging from tea and coffee to traditional ales to cocktails! so there is something for everybody. With the pub being situated in the town centre there is no car park. All in all I would recommend it for a nice meal.
