I love Nash Point. It’s situated in Monknash and is very popular with ramblers for its cliff side walks and fantastic views. It’s something of a local secret and even at the height of summer doesn’t get that busy. From here you can either walk to the nearby Monknash beach, which is one of the most picturesque walks I’ve been on, or head the opposite way and check out the lighthouse. The lighthouse was the last manned lighthouse in Wales and became automated as recently as 1998. There are tours available here for just £3.50. I’ve been here when the horn has been sounded but as far as I’m aware it only sounds a couple of times a month. It’s pretty loud though so not for sensitive ears! I wouldn’t recommend the walk past the lighthouse for kids as you’re walking fairly close to the edge of some huge cliffs. It’s an amazing view though straight out to sea and I go here to chill out whenever the stresses of inner-city life drive me mental. Last time I visited there it was getting dark and there was nobody around except a lady who was extremely extravagantly dressed sat looking out to sea playing quite a slow song on a cello. It was incredibly eerie and I haven’t been back since!
