Ordered items from & Matalan in December(the 15th!) and was advised when I placed these orders that delivery was guaranteed before Xmas. These couriers reckon they tried to deliver both parcels 3 times!!! I gave my work address for delivery which is a Brewery and is manned 24⁄7 and no deliveries were attempted on ANY of these dates or times(i have even checked the CCTV!) I finally got my parcels 27th December(way passed giving for Xmas!) and both the originating companies will not take responsibility for these couriers not delivering on time which is poor on their part. If I know a company will use these people for their deliveries I give them a wide berth!

I’ve added this as I want to warn anyone who runs a small business. We were away from 10am on 27th October to 4pm on 30th October. We returned to find two ‘unsuccessful delivery’ cards from Hermes, one with a name and phone number, the other with only a phone number. I rang the first number and was told that, because he had been unable to deliver it, it had been passed to a colleague. I rang the other number; this person at first denied all knowledge. When I pointed out I’d got his number from the card, he suddenly remembered that he’d been unable to deliver it and it had been sent back. Fortunately, the supplier has agreed to send a replacement parcel by Royal Mail, but this is costing them money, which they will almost certainly be unable to reclaim. It seems very unfair they should be out of pocket because of Hermes. I’m sure some of the problems are linked to the issues highlighted here
