The Carfin Vaults has been an institution of the village all of my life and, while other pubs have came and went, this one has remained resilient.
Known locally as a ‘Celtic pub’, the bar serves as a venue for the big matches that Glasgow Celtic play, and the buses leave from here for the matches.
It is always busy, and it’s almost always the same people who are in it. It epitomises an old man’s pub, which is not my scene. It seems to be the sort of place where you would get stared out of until you left, if you weren’t a local or a regular.
Not my cup of tea, or my pint of Guinness… best left to the die hard ale drinkers!
