Everything was delicious. We came in early on a Saturday evening so there were few other people dining. Service was quick and our waiter helped us make a choice. The pickles that they serve before the meal are delicious.

Best curry we’ve had in Newcastle so far, and we will definitely be back! We booked on a Saturday night and I’m glad we did, as the place really filled up by about 8 pm. It’s bright and cheerful inside, and the servers were very friendly. The menu is South Indian, so it’s unique and a welcome change from the usual curry house menus. Three of us started with the Pre-Meal Snacks, a sort of bread basket composed of the usual poppadoms, and more creative offerings like banana cups, crunchy rice flour sticks, fried poppadoms, and this crispy flower-shaped thing. They came with garlic pickle, lemon pickle, chicken pickle, mixed vegetable pickle, and coriander chutney. Yum! So different than the usual. I didn’t try the lemon pickle as I’m not a big citrus fan, but I loved the garlic pickle and the chutney especially. We made short work of our crispy snacks, though we were given a very generous portion. A really delicious way to start the meal. My friend and I split the Rasa Kayi(mixed vegetable curry) and the Kappayum Meenum Vevichathu(a fish curry). The fish was absolutely amazing, easily one of the best fish curries I’ve had. It was just delicious, and served alongside some tasty steamed tapioca root. Apparently it’s a Syrian Christian dish which is pretty cool! We both loved it and the veggie curry which was also great. Both were very fresh and light, there was no oil pooling at the bottom like you often get at an Indian restaurant. No feeling of greasiness at all. The lemon rice and tamarind rice were both good accompaniments, and were fairly mild. We loved the paratha, it was in a coil shape and was flaky and addictive. Great for mopping up sauce. My fiancé loved his lamb curry in green masala — he asked for it «hot» but said it wasn’t too spicy, so don’t be afraid to order hot if you like heat, it won’t overpower you. Maybe you need to ask for it even hotter! We finished with a Banana Dosa, a sort of banana pancake with ice cream on top, and a scoop of mango sorbet. The desserts were tasty, though not the highlight of the meal. I thought the banana pancake was a little bit too dense and not terribly sweet, but my dining partners liked it! Prices are very reasonable for what you get, we were all stuffed and happy as could be. I hear they do a great lunch deal, so I’ll have to come back and try that. Next time we want a curry in Newcastle, we know where to go.

This is definitely one of the best curry houses in Newcastle! I’ve eaten here numerous times and it never disappoints… it’s an absolute gem! If you are looking for an authentic Indian restaurant with mouth watering spices and very reasonable prices then look no further. Traditional southern Indian food is on offer here so don’t be expecting your usual Jalfrezi or Balti dishes on the menu. The waiters are all amazingly helpful and will guide you on what to select if you’re unsure. There are only a handful of chicken and lamb dishes to choose from but the spices and flavours are unreal. They also have an extensive vegetarian menu including traditional dosa’s(crepes with various fillings) which you can have as a starter or a main! Rasa has a lovely atmosphere and the décor is very vibrant… pink, black and white throughout. Each individual member of staff is a credit to the restaurant and I plan on going back time and time again.

I class myself as a curry fan and have a curry at least once a week. I’m from a part of the country where there is plenty of selection of indian restaurants. Rasa has completely blown me out of the water! The menu on first glance was limited(compared to what I’m used to, 400 curries with different names) I had the Kozhy Olathu and it was just amazing. Staff are great too and made my night thank u

This is on the site where Asha Raval used to be The new place is Southern indian /Keralan. Starters are dhosa(differet to usual Bangladeshi style Indian). I enjoyed the change but others used to tomato based curries preferred what they are used to elswhere. For vegans this place must be a delight as meat free and dairy free dishes
