Alexanders Deli

It’s gone sadly, and yet another fast food joint is in its place. Brilliant. Just what we need. Not. They said they were sad to go, but i’d heard the property owner had made it impossible for them to stay apparently. Boooo! I loved Alexander’s and went nearly every day.

When i worked in town, this was my first choice for a working lunch! I would pop in here and pick up a sandwich and they were absolutely delicious — I would recommend them to anyone. The downside is that this shop becomes fantastically busy over the lunch period and sometimes therefore, they have run out of the particularly sandwich filling you might be after, but the choice is good and something will inevitably appeal. They do all kinds of sandwiches from healthy to the extra fattening, and serve it any way you like — you can choose your type of bread — brown/​white/​bap/​baguette etc, butter or no, which salad fillings you want, if any, and then the mouthwatering fillings themselves. I thoroughly recommend chicken and bacon. You can sit in, although it gets very full. It is in the middle of a mainly pedestrianised area and clientele are mainly office workers looking for a quick takeout lunch. A bit pricey, but absolutely delicious.
