Large & Loud ! You WILL lose people, and possibly not find them unless you’re out having a tab, or attempting to regain your hearing, but it’s seriously worth spending the time there! Prices are fairly expensive. The bar itself is a ‘futureist’ type, the lighting is good, and it creates the correct mood you want when you’re out on the town.

Liquid is one of Newcastle’s largest clubs. There main night is the student night on a Thursday called ‘Skint’. Thursdays can get extremely busy at Liquid so make sure you go early to try and avoid the massive queues outside. The club is based on two floors with many bars inside. Upstairs there is two separate clubs one for VIP members and the other is known as Envy, this plays more indie music than the main Liquid club downstairs. The toilets aren’t very clean and the staff at the bar are not very friendly or helpful. There are a lot of better clubs in Newcastle.

The queue to go in is absolutely unbelievable. It’s worth it though. Excellent music and lots of nice cheeks here, mostly students. The lighting is faboulous. It really creates night club mood and weekend mood, which will turn you on. The dance floor area is huge, so huge until you could lose your friends(takes a while to find them) in the sea of people. The sea of people is absolutely unbelievable, as if there is no credit crunch going on. It’s not really cheap to go in, but it’s well paid off. I would say Thursday is the best time to go here.

Liquid is huge, absolutely huge, that’s all I can really say about the place. Just walking in through the disgustingly tacky entrance corridor(after the disgustingly long queue) you realize it’s gonna be big. The downstairs dance floor is vast, so vast you could easily lose people all night, and still gets packed with a sea of people. There are plenty of bars inside but expect to queue for a long time and pay over the odds. The music is the usual run of the mill dance/charts stuff if you’re into that and apparently they get ‘top’ DJs now and again. Upstairs there’s another room/club(Envy) that plays slightly better music. The layout of the place is ridiculous, a mini labyrinth of corridors and endless sets of stairs that go up down. The only thing comparable to it would be Escher’s ‘Ascending and Descending’. If you want to head upstairs expect to go down and round a corner first. The only positive I see to liquid is if you’re skint and go to the aptly named ‘skint’ on a thursday night then most drink are a pound and there are plenty of students about. Personally I wouldn’t bother with the place, there are better places to go and the cheap thursdays don’t outweigh the poor music, boiling hot temperature, massive queues and ‘blazing squad’ style the whole place reeks of.

Liquid is my faviourate club venue in Newcastle. It is part of the chain that owns Oceana in Leeds and runs on the same sort of principles. It has an excellent sound system and lots of cool lighting. Liquid is a more expensive night than other clubs in the surrounding area but in my opinion it is well worth the extra few £££‘s
