Perdu

The Diamond strip is normally a last resort for me but that said Perdu is a great choice if you fancy a dance into the early hours of the morning as the music is pretty decent. It can get really overcrowded making it a mission to manœuvre through the dance floor to the bar or the toilet. I personally like the outdoor alley in the back for this reason as you generally get more space and fresh air (amidst the smokers of course). Girls just be warned that this can be a bit of a meat market and guys seem to think it’s acceptable to grab your bum as you walk by!

Perdu is not a place I really end up by choice, but when everything else shuts, it’s a good bet. And you know, sometimes you just want to dance, and here you can do it without a cover charge. Also they have this little covered alley in the back where you can get some air if you’ve been working up too much of a sweat! I like the alley as they have little tables for drinks and cute chandelier things hanging from the glass ceiling. Feels elegant until you look down and see all the cigarette butts.
Drinks are overpriced, and the last time I went dancing here it was SO HOT! Not in a good way. It was overbearingly hot, and nobody likes to feel sweaty and gross while dancing. Not a fan of that. Don’t go here on a hot night because apparently they don’t have air con. Wait, Newcastle doesn’t have hot nights! HA! Sorry about that, my mistake. The music they play is really fun to dance to (hip-​hop and pop from the last 10 years, a good mix of all the stuff you know by heart), but the crowd can leave something to be desired. Girls are the usual skin-​tight dress wearing, fake-​eyelashed, spray tanned variety. Men can be a bit creepy. Maybe I’m just old. But if you want to be out past 2 am when all the others bars have shut, this is probably your best bet!

I’ve always quite liked the bars near the station although could never love them on Saturday night due to high proportion of rah students/​wag wannabes who frequent the places, on Saturday though we paid a visit to perdu which is down by station, not got much to say on the place other than its how you would expect, not cheap and a bit pretentious, doubt ill be going any time soon as I think im getting too old for all the nonsense that accompanies these kind of places, its far from the worst place ive been in Newcastle though I must say, though not sure how much of a compliment that is

I really like this bar too. The place itself is very well presented and classy, and its always nice to find a place in toon where your feet don’t stick to the floor. The people who get in here are representative of the place too, well dressed and just out for a laugh which gives the place a brilliant atmosphere. As mentioned in other posts, the drinks are a tad more expensive than elswhere, but if you stick to bottles or singles there wont be a great difference. All in all this has got to be in the top 3 bars in newcastle (in my opion of course), enjoy!

Personally I have never been here to drink, I have worked here and so you all know, they don’t clean their glasses properly! I worked behind the bar and I quit after one night cause I was so disgusted by this. I mean it looks nice, the drinks taste good, but trust me they don’t clean their glasses! If you’re okay with this, please go ahead. But I thought I’d just put a warning here.

this place has a nice smoking area as you can go through the back to have a smoke but the prices on the drinks are ridiculous. i dont mind paying more for drinks if it’s a superior place but it clearly isn’t and is a bit snobby.

I really like this bar. I’m constantly striving to find somewhere to go out for drinks which feels stylish but not snooty, and I have had nothing but good times in this bar! It’s not extortionate, the crowd always seems friendly and a range of ages. Also, they do a nice line in a ‘happy hour’ with a pushy button ‘game of chance’ in the week, which means you can get very cheap, or even free drinks! One of my favourites, hope you enjoy it!
