Great vibes, great coffee and Wifi. A welcome oasis of sanity in Newry. That was my quick tip and it sums Grounded up really. This was my second time in 6 months in Newry on a weeks TVOB shoot. Being a fish eating vegetarian made these tough weeks on the food front. You can only eat Newry style battered cod & chips once a week without turning into Jabba the Hutt(Google Image it!). Catering provided by the production company in a local restaurant was a challenge for yours truly and after the first week there I went home feeling hungry tired and a little ill. So when the 2nd week came along I decided to make an effort to avoid having to starve or eat c*%p. Hotel — Made for me what turned out to be great porridge each morning. Supermarket — Stocked up on the fruit and water. Health Food store — Nuts, healthy snacks etc. Got a great cup of coffee every morning on my way to the venue from a barista in Grounded who talked faster than me and seemed to have drank a double espresso for every coffee he sold. Sounds irritating you might say… but not so! Looked forward to meeting him every morning pure energy always positive and always a great cappuccino. Never got his name? Flash? Speedy? Then I discovered not only did Grounded make great coffee but also offered a small but well varied menu with a special every day. The food tasted as good as it read on the menu. So I went from dreading my trip to being disappointed I could not go there every morning for my cup of Joe and an express train chat with afore mentioned barista and retire there every evening for some free social media surfing and a good meal. Yeah if your in Newry you know what to do!

Great place for a cuppa tea and a bun(or a cornflake square thingy) and a good olé natter. Trendy place to hang out at reasonable prices!

hipsters packed at lunch cute thick-rimmed glasses waiter coffee lovers place walking around newry at lunch time: this corner café was the place to be. Filled with families and hipsters… and hipster families. How could we resist? I got the soup and sandwich(Carrot and coriander/chicken tikka): Class. Coffee: delicious. The cup even spoke to me, «I can’t wait for our lips to meet.» My sentiments EXACTLY. If hipsters, and napkins and cups hitting on you is a turn off, then you ought to come for the coffee milkshake beverage things. REAL. ICE. CREAM. My friend got one, and it delivered – wonderful coffee ice cream milky chocolate frozen wonderfulness. The drink menu is quite extensive. If only there were booze. But that’s what I say about everything…

Pretty darn good, this is where the young trendy things of Newry go to be seen(and you cant be missed with the glass windows!) Menu could be more extensive to suit its long opening hours, it really offers nothing in the way of hot food, apart from soup but what you get is good. Eco friendly and its all about fair trade and saving the rain forest in here. Great concept and well run, some of the staff are a bit way out looking but, hey I’m a geriatric so what the hell do I know about facial piercings? Sandwiches, bagels, paninis etc, and all day breakfasts
