The Workhouse was busy when I visited on Saturday night and about 90% of the people there were blokes. It emptied out a bit around 10pm. It has loads of seating and cool horse-​shoe type seats along the back wall and the atmosphere was good.
Not too pricey for drinks.

The Workhouse is a nice little pub located just outside Northampton town centre on the Wellingborough Road. It’s a cool little place with very friendly staff and drinks at reasonable prices. It’s a good place to start a night with a group of friends and boast a small covered smoking area at the back and a pool table area towards the back of the bar on the inside. They show Premier League football matches in here too and you can generally always find a seat for those whereas you might struggle in somewhere like Barratts or the Pickering.
