Toby Carvery

This place is a perfect example of why the World thinks English food sucks. This is a traditional carvery. Unfortunately, everything that was served was completely tasteless and cold. The vegetables were obviously frozen, the meat had no flavor at all and the Yorkshires were like a pancake if you could get one at all. I would not give this to a dog. Now, let’s talk service. That was worse than the food. We waited ages for someone to take and bring our drink orders. The poor lady carving meat desperately needed help. You can not expect 1 person to cover 4 meat stations in the midst of dinner time. At least give her a proper carving knife. She was cutting meat with a bread knife. We never did get our check. We had to track down the manager and pay. I should have just walked out since I couldn’t stomach eating it anyway. Do yourself a favor and never go here.

Known locally as The Midway, this is by far the best Toby carvery in Northampton
Nice bar/​lounge area, not much space outside however
The quality of the carvery is always good, great selection, the meats are always cooked perfectly, the yorkshire’s don’t taste like paper (unlike most other carvery’s) & are plentyful
There’s an inexpensive hotel next door
