A top place to take the dog and kids out for the day. We go every summer when it gets warmer a couple of times in to the wide open spaces and always have a fab time.

Excellent day out! I used to go here often as a child and have carried on doing so. A beautiful walk around the lake and through the gardens, or go of the beaten track and explore the woods and fields of the Clumber Park estate. Often they have livestock grazing, which kids(and adults my other half is 32!) will love. The restaurant is quite pricey but you pay for excellent quality locally sourced produce served in a really pleasing environment. Failing that grab an ice cream from one of the many ice cream vans dotted around the park.

Not sure that ‘Park’ quite does this place justice, because it is a massive sprawling area that includes cycle tracks, lakes, forests, cricket pitch, village etc etc. Parking is good as there is plenty of space set aside in the fields to allow you to find a spot nice and easy. Access to it is pretty good from Nottingham and I would guess it is not a million miles to get to it from Sheffield or Chesterfield too. If you get good weather(I know thats pushing it here in England) in the summer then it is an ideal place to head out with a few friends and enjoy a whole day. There are BBQ areas so why not grab some drinks, set up the BBQ and enjoy a game of frisbee in the Sun :-) Surroundings are great around the park and if you dont fancy walking all the way around then you can also hire a bike for the day from this place, adding to the experience and allowing you enjoy rolling down hills, although remember you need to get back up the other side!

Clumber Park is a National Trust attraction, although you can go for free as long as you don’t park in the main car park. If you park in other parts of the grounds and walk to the main area, there are no parking fees for non-members. NT members can park in the main car park for free. A lovely family day out, with lakes, ducks, a nice tea room and lovely areas to wander around and explore. One of the best ways to explore is by bike. you can either take your ow or hire one. They hire out bikes with child seats on the back, if you are taking children. My son loved it when we took him, and there really is a huge and varied area to explore on bikes.

Clumber Park is a National Trust-owned property in north Nottinghamshire. The former site of a mansion which no longer exists, the estate is huge. As such, bike rental is an excellent option. For those of a less-energetic disposition, parking is plentiful and there are many good walking routes. The central part of the grounds is located in, around and near the former stable block. The café/restaurant, exhibition areas, shop, chapel and kitchen garden are all worth visiting and there is an impressive lake. There is a reasonable charge per vehicle for entry into the grounds and no charge for cyclists or pedestrians. Public transport links are not great. All-in-all, Clumber is a pleasant place to visit, though, for me at least, it is slightly underwhelming when compared to other National Trust properties in the area and not simply because of the demolition of the house(in the late thirties).

In the walled kitchen garden it is possible to have an audio guide to find your way around and to give the history of the garden. They also provide a trakker-pack full of activities for children. They have things to look for, things to draw and it makes them ask questions. Thoroughly recommended if you have children. The Park is extensive — 1500 hectares(3800 acres), and contains woodland, farmland and open heath. It would be easy to spend several days just exploring either on foot or by cycle.

Clumber Park is a beutiful place, as soon as you turn into the property though the gateway and see the lime trees lining both sides of the drive you feel that its a special place. there is a large lake with well maintaines lawns and gardens and vast parklands some of which have been left to go wild to help the wildlife. Clumber park is host to a vareity of events thoghout the year including horse trials and jazz concerts. They run a cycle rently service which i have tried, first time of a bike in twenty years was great fun. unfortunatley the house was dismantled in the early part of the last century, but the chapel which over looks the lake is still in use. There is a coffee shop, gift shop, plant sales, information centre and i am sure loads of things that i have missed. Clumber park is a place to get away form the bustle, relax and enjoy the delights. A National Trust property Clumber Park is open from dawn to dusk every day unless hosting a event admission is free, a small fee for the car park for non trust members.
