I’ve visited Nottingham a few times this past year as my friend is studying in Nottingham. Arriving at 2pm I headed up into the town and my friend said we should try Ugly Bread Bakery. I’ve no real idea why it might be called his as it’s a great little venue with a seated balcony on the first floor. We sat on the ground floor on the only table downstairs. The counter was steady with customers throughout our stay which is a pretty good sign. We were given our wooden spoon to denote our table number and waited a short time for our focaccia with ham and cheese. The focaccia was well grilled and the cheese melted into the ham. I’d visit again and suggest it to people looking for somewhere for lunch.

This is a little gem in resurgent Nottingham city center. Simple, classic fresh Italian food(which good all Italian food is). It also has the advantage of being a deli with some of authentic brands you won’t find in the supermarket. I’m not sure what the name refers too, as all the sanwiches and pizza’s looks amazing I had a virgin beef and mozzarella focaccia toasted and ate in and took in the views of the frantic boxing day shoppers doing their business(they do take away too). The bread was stunning, really fresh and soft and baked with sun dried tomatoes and herbs, the mozzarella creamy and the beef yummy, which was nice after all the white meat eaten over Christmas. There was some yummy looking carrot cake, but I was full after the sandwich so I will have to try that next time.
