My partner and I spent the night at Hambleton Hall to cap off a week in Nottinghamshire. Overall, it was a very memorable and luxurious experience in a great country home that I would absolutely recommend. One of the reasons we stayed here was because Hambleton Hall is part of the Relais & Château association of boutique hotels, and this property certainly is a good representation of that brand. We arrived somewhat later in the day, so we couldn’t explore the surrounding village as much as we would have wanted to. When we arrived, we had been driving pretty much all day and were exhausted, but the staff of Hambleton Hall took very well care of us and showed us to our room and parked our car. It seemed effortless. The interior design and feel of the lobby and main areas is sumptuous and gives off a feeling of warmth. The room itself was gorgeous and the furniture and bed were top notch. The bathroom was expansive, with ample room for toiletries and bags. We didn’t have a very large room, so there wasn’t actually much stowaway room for our bags. They were kind of the middle of the floor, but that’s what we had to do. We got dressed quickly for dinner(which I will put in a different review, though it was also 5-star) and then sat in a common area and had some tea afterwards. The breakfast next morning was absolutely delicious. We had had a late night, so we decided to have breakfast in the room, and it was one of the best breakfast is in the room I’ve ever had. They didn’t forget anything, and they didn’t use it as an excuse to give you less than you deserve. They had a basket of freshly-baked bread from their bakery, which was great. Before check out, we went for a walk around the grounds, and even in late winter, it was still well-maintained and gorgeous. The exterior of the house speaks to how well kept the entire property is. The staff was friendly throughout the stay. I would absolutely recommend Hambleton Hall!

Just a quick update to shower further praise upon Hambleton Hall following a recent meal. First, the food was just as amazing as usual. My ‘Assiette of Spring’ was a celebration of the season with purple sprouting, asparagus, morels, wild garlic and a slow cooked hen’s egg combining into a wonderful visual and sensory delight. This standard was more than followed in the following courses of locally reared Veal(with sweetbread raviolo & more morel mushrooms) and a white/dark chocolate pave. Second, the wine was superb. The sommelier managed to find the perfect match for my relatively light veal dish, and my companion’s richer duck and venison mains which was so delicious that I have already looked up where I can buy some more locally. Third, a member of staff went far above the call of duty by driving us the ten minute drive home when we were left stranded in Hambleton with no taxi available for more than 1 ½ hours. This kind of commitment deserves to be shouted from every corner and I duly intend to do just that!
