My boyfriend and I were due to go home, having spent a long and arduous day shopping in Otley. At the last minute I decided, rather awkwardly it’s true, that I wanted a coffee and a cake before our twenty minute journey home. We stopped off at Dales, mostly as it was the closest to us at the time and not more than five minutes away from the bus station. It’s a nice enough café, spacious and nicely decorated, but it’s not the most amazing place I’ve ever been to. It’s down to earth and homely. We ordered a coffee and a piece of cake, I went for the Victoria Sponge, and it was just what I needed. A bit of sustenance and caffeine to keep me going! The prices were cheap and the service was relaxed and friendly. There just wasn’t much in the way of atmosphere. Apparently on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 – 10 pm the place is transformed into a greek restaurant, so perhaps this is when the place really comes to life. Unfortunately, with our bus due in 10 minutes we didn’t have time to check that out, but I’m sure it would be pretty reasonable! All in all it’s down to earth and a nice enough place to stop off for a break.
