Among the very best«Indian» food(actually Bangladeshi) you can find in the Cardiff area and the staff bends over backwards, then backwards again to make sure you’re looked after.

I lived in Penarth for a short while and this place was quite close to where I was living at the time. It’s quite strange that with all the money sloshing around in Penarth that there should be so few restaurants of any description. There’s obviously the places on the Esplanade but in Penarth proper there aren’t many at all. There are a lot of café’s but very few eateries open after 7pm. Having lived in Cardiff most of my life it’s not an issue if you don’t like somewhere as there’s always something new opening somewhere. The Jaflon however is a lovely Bangladeshi restaurant right in the middle of Penarth and the food is pretty good too. I’ve visited there on quite a few occasions and had take away and the food has always been of a high standard. It’s set just back from the main road by the Post Office and it’s easy to find parking in the streets around. It can get quite busy on the weekend but weeknights are generally fine. I don’t think I ever made a reservation but you may need to check if you need one.

With competition only really coming from the nearby Tropical Tandoori, as well as the not too distant Paramount, the Jaflon enjoys a busy trade and is a popular choice for many across Penarth. Located next door to a sorting office, the Jaflon occupies a building formerly used as a fully fledged post office. Inside, the transformation into a restaurant serving fine Bangladeshi cuisine is impressive. Customers are welcomed by a warm and friendly atmosphere, with the smells wafting through from the kitchen. The food is of a particularly high quality, and i’d personally consider the Jaflon’s currys as the number one in town. A large menu, full of Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine is matched by large portions. With the Jaflon also benefitting from friendly staff, this restaurant provides a thoroughly enjoyable experience, well recommended for anyone.

This restaurant just out of the centre of Penarth town serves Bangladeshi cuisine(no option for that in the Unilocal categories, for shame!). Once you’ve discovered this place, you’ll certainly want to go back again. The service here is really what makes it stand out from the competition, and there are also, surprisingly, very few Asian restaurants in the Penarth area. Again, for shame! The staff will great you will a smile and go above and beyond to ensure that your meal and experience are everything that you could ever ask for. There is likely to be something on the menu that will suite all tastes, from the less adventurous to the Michael Palins of this world. Here you’ll find some of the most interesting, diverse and best vegetarian food in the area. Although the outside of this place may not immediately inspire confidence, the inside is a completely different story. Make the effort to find out yourself and you won’t regret it, I assure you.
