Really good pub. Very local-ish, without being snobby. You’ll be welcomed whether you’re a regular or not. Best beer in Penarth by a long shot with their various guest ales and some regulars like Abbot. A really quirky selection of decorations — some political, some humorous, some historical, all interesting. A good crowd of people too. If you’re new to Penarth, this should be your local. Unless you’re scene is £1.50 pint of Brains Bitter from uncleaned lines and noisy chavs, in which case, The Railway would be a better bet.
A brilliant local pub with such a querky feel, yet really rally cozy. They always have about 7 ales on the bar all guests and vary form the time of yar, fox’s knob is a good one! There is live jazz on a wednesday night which is totally amazing. Then on a thursday they have poker night. During the events they have deal meals, i think these run every night, not sure. But they also do sunday lunches etc. There was also a jumble sale stall in the corner the night we went for jazz, that had various things for sale, I’d never seen this before, and think it’s brilliant. A bfun evening for the community. They also do a thing called crab ads. This is a charity event where you can pay £5 which goes to charity, then when a crab is next cought by off penarth pier they will write your advert on it’s shell and put it back in the sea, hopefully for the next person to catch and see your add for your shop or whatever you have advertised. A lot of people give like a discount if you come in with it or come in becasue of the the advert. This pub is fantastic, and is very friendly. All the locals are very friendly and will ahve a good chat with you. There is also a skeleton elvis in the corner with a guitar! brilliant! check it out
