Brookfield Guest House

I’ve now completed 7 UK B&Bs in 7 days as part of my half Coast to Coast walk through the UK. Hands down, Brookfield gets my vote as the place I want to go back to. Why? One person: Margaret. This (guessing) mid-​60s owner is a work force! The tea and scones around 5:30 or 6:00 are beyond spectacular. Hot, with butter and jam. Oh my God! Heaven.
For breakfast she loads you up well beyond what’s necessary but it’s all good. The sack lunch to go for hikers is the same. Far beyond what anyone else provided and packed with little things you wouldn’t expect like an almond tart.
The rooms are clean and fresh, great blankets and lots of pillows, all of the amenities are fine, but it’s Margaret that makes this place special. So, don’t know if she’ll ever read this but thanks Margaret for making my stay and that of your guests so special. Bravo!
