Super great restaurant. Love the breakfast, the buttered King Prawn starter, the clotted cream ice cream and everything I had over there!

A lovely civilised place to sit & have tea for a modest
sum while cooling off from a shopping trip or waiting
for a bus, like me. Lunch & dinner mediterranean food.
They have pop-​up english lessons for vistors from abroad
two evenings a week: a good idea others might copy because
these are free & the house gains too, cos you buy drinks

Went here for the first time for our office Christmas meal. Everyone really enjoyed everything they ordered, service was quick and efficient, staff were friendly and the setting is cosy a fantastic night was had by all. The only reason I have not given a 5 stars is because there were 2 people who came into the restaurant at about 20:30 and asked for a table (the place was empty exept for us). I didn’t ask the staff but someone overheard that the chef had packed up for the night! Not good. So to summarise wonderful food at reasonable prices but make sure you book!

Visited the Alverne twice when in Penzance in June 2011, located in the town centre (turn right out of Causeway Head and it is on the Right beneath the Spa)
The first lunch time visit (to check the place out) I enjoyed great service and just about the best burger and chips I have ever had.
Following that visit I booked to take a friend whose birthday it was the following evening, and the four of us again enjoyed excellent service and food from a fantastic menu, (along with Specials changed daily on the board)
Our food ranged from Starters of, Chorizo Croustini, Whitebait and Scollops, followed by mains of Belly Pork with crackling, Confit of Duck, Fish and Chips, and Haddock fillet, washed down with some Tempranillo Wine, followed by some local ice creams (that’s all we had room for) and my first try of Apple Pie Ice Cream! Which was great then we finished with coffee.
I cannot compliment this bar/​restaurant enough, and could recommend it to anyone in Penzance

Excellent eatery by day, fine restaurant by night.
Very relaxed atmosphere with an exciting menu of new foods and old classics.
It is that good, honest
