Another of my favourite places in Cornwall. If you are driving there, you pass through the village of St Just and take a small, windy road with high hedges that leads to a National Trust car park. Then it’s not a long walk to the promentary that is Cape Cornwall, surely one of the most westerly of points in the country. It’s very exposed to the weather coming off the Atlantic, so dress appropriately and be prepared to be blown off your feet by the wind! But it’s worth persevering and climbing up to the observation point, where the views are spectacular. When you look around, it seems like you are seeing more than 180 degrees of sea. And if you stare at the horizon, you can actually see the curve of the earth! Magnificent!
